Why do researchers co ‐author Evidence Syntheses with librarians? A mixed‐methods study
This study explores researcher motivations for working with librarians at the co-author level through a mixed methods design. Interviews with researchers identified twenty potential motivations that were then tested through an online questionnaire sent to authors of recently published ES. Consistent with previous findings, most respondents did not have a librarian co-author on their ES, though 16% acknowledged one in their manuscript and 10% consulted one but did not document the contribution. Search expertise was the most common motivation both to and not to co-author with librarians. Those that had or were interested in ...

SeroTracker ‐RoB: a decision rule‐based algorithm for reproducible risk of bias assessment of seroprevalence studies
ConclusionsThe SeroTracker-RoB decision-rule based algorithm was faster than non-algorithmic assessment with complete coverage and good reliability. This algorithm enabled rapid, transparent, and reproducible RoB evaluations of seroprevalence studies and may support evidence synthesis efforts during future disease outbreaks. This decision rule-based approach could be applied to other types of prevalence studies. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. (Source: Research Synthesis Methods)

Feasibility and desirability of screening search results from Google Search exhaustively for systematic reviews: a cross ‐case analysis
This study aimed to provide further ev idence on the feasibility of screening search results from Google Search exhaustively, and to assess the desirability of this in terms of identifying studies for a systematic review. We conducted a cross-case analysis of the search results of eight Google Search searches from two systematic reviews. Feasibility of exhaustive screening was ascertained by calculating the viewable number of results. Desirability was ascertained according to: (1) the distribution of studies within the results, irrespective of relevance to a systematic review; (2) the distribution of studies which met the ...

How should we handle predatory journals in evidence synthesis? A descriptive survey ‐based cross‐sectional study of evidence synthesis experts
The objective of this research was to explore the attitudes, opinions, and experiences of experts in the synthesis of evidence regarding predatory journals. Employing a descriptive survey-based cross-sectional study design, these experts were asked a series of questions regarding predatory journals to explore these attitudes, opinions, and experiences. Two hundred and sixty four evidence synthesis experts responded to this survey. Most respondents agreed with the definition of a predatory journal (86%), however several (19%) responded that this definition was difficult to apply practically. Many respondents believed that st...
