Molecular crosstalk between insulin-like growth factors and follicle-stimulating hormone in the regulation of granulosa cell function
CONCLUSION: FSH and locally produced IGFs form a positive feedback loop essential for preovulatory follicle formation in all species. Understanding the mechanisms by which FSH and IGFs interact to control GC function will help design new interventions to optimize follicle maturation, perfect treatment of ovulatory defects, improve in vitro fertilization, and develop new contraceptive approaches.PMID:38571513 | PMC:PMC10988955 | DOI:10.1002/rmb2.12575 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Identification of long noncoding RNAs downregulated specifically in ovarian high-grade serous carcinoma
CONCLUSION: We identified eleven lncRNAs that were specifically downregulated in HGSC. Of these, CBR3-AS1, NBR2, and ADAMTS9-AS2 had unique functions in the malignant behaviors of HGSC.PMID:38571514 | PMC:PMC10988898 | DOI:10.1002/rmb2.12572 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Novel erectile analyses revealed augmentable penile Lyve-1, the lymphatic marker, expression
CONCLUSIONS: The current in vivo system will potentially contribute to the assessment of penile pathology from a novel viewpoint. In addition, current analyses revealed inducible Lyve-1 expression for LPS injection and the erection state, which requires further analyses on penile lymphatic system.PMID:38566911 | PMC:PMC10985380 | DOI:10.1002/rmb2.12570 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Map-1a regulates Sertoli cell BTB dynamics through the cytoskeletal organization of microtubule and F-actin
Reprod Biol Endocrinol. 2024 Apr 3;22(1):36. doi: 10.1186/s12958-024-01204-y.ABSTRACTMicrotubule-associated protein 1a (Map1a) is a microtubule (MT) regulatory protein that binds to the MT protofilaments in mammalian cells to promote MT stabilization. Maps work with MT cleavage proteins and other MT catastrophe-inducing proteins to confer MT dynamics to support changes in the Sertoli cell shape to sustain spermatogenesis. However, no functional studies are found in the literature to probe its role in spermatogenesis. Using an RNAi approach, coupled with the use of toxicant-induced testis (in vivo)- and Sertoli cell (in vit...

Reproductive outcomes of dual trigger therapy with GnRH agonist and hCG versus hCG trigger in women with diminished ovarian reserve: a retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: Dual triggering of final oocyte maturation with hCG combined with GnRHa can significantly increase the number of oocytes retrieved in patients with DOR but has no improvement effect on the implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate or LBR of fresh cycles or on the CLBR.PMID:38566172 | DOI:10.1186/s12958-024-01211-z (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Effectiveness and complication rates of high intensity focused ultrasound treatment for abdominal wall endometriosis: A systematic review
Eur J Obstet Gynecol Reprod Biol. 2024 Mar 26;297:15-23. doi: 10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.03.029. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this review, a systematic literature search on the effectiveness and complication rates of ultrasound-guided and magnetic resonance-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (USg-/MRgHIFU) for abdominal wall endometriosis (AWE) was conducted in six databases in May/June 2023. Original articles of (non)randomized trials, cohort studies, case-control studies and case series published in peer-reviewed journals were included. Of the included studies the level of evidence (LoE) and methodological quality u...

Relationship between serum apelin, visfatin levels, and body composition in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome patients
CONCLUSIONS: Compared with healthy women, Patients with PCOS have an increased fat content in various parts of the body, reduced skeletal muscle content, and are often complicated by metabolic abnormalities. Serum visfatin and apelin correlated not only with obesity, fat mass, and fat distribution but also with muscle mass and distribution. It may be possible to reduce the long-term risk of metabolic disease in PCOS through the monitoring and management of the body composition in PCOS patients or to reflect the therapeutic effect of PCOS.PMID:38555852 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.03.034 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Miscarriage and stillbirth in relation to risk of cardiovascular diseases: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis indicates that both miscarriages and stillbirths are related to a higher risk of total CVDs, CHD, stroke, and total CVD deaths. The risk of total CVDs and CHD increased with the number of miscarriages or stillbirths.PMID:38554480 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.03.035 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Physical activity among pregnant inpatients and outpatients and associations with anxiety
CONCLUSION: We present antenatal population norms and variance for step counts, metabolic equivalent tasks, moderate to vigorous physical activity bursts, and kcals, as well as correlations with anxiety. Antepartum inpatients had significantly lower physical activity than outpatients, and lower step counts correlated with higher anxiety levels. These results highlight the need for physical activity interventions, particularly for hospitalized pregnant people.PMID:38554481 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.03.033 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

Diagnostic accuracy validation study of the M6 model without initial serum progesterone (M6 < sub > NP < /sub > ) in triage of pregnancy of unknown location
CONCLUSION: The M6NP model could be used safely in the French population for risk stratification of PUL. Its use in clinical practice should result in a substantial reduction in the number of visits to a gynaecological emergency room.PMID:38552504 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejogrb.2024.03.010 (Source: Reproductive Biology)
