Effect of Ultrasound Intensity and Mode on Piroxicam Transport Across Three-Dimensional Skin Equivalent Epiderm ™.
CONCLUSION: Sonophoresis has a positive effect on enhancing skin permeability. The enhancement level was largely dependent on the sonication factors; frequency, intensity and the length of treatment. Multiple mechanisms of action might be involved in permeation improvement of the piroxicam molecule. Those mechanisms are largely dependent on the ultrasonic conditions. Nano-Based Drug Delivery System: Recent Strategies for the Treatment of Ocular Disease and Future Perspective.
Authors: Qamar Z, Qizilbash FF, Iqubal MK, Ali A, Sahni JK, Ali J, Baboota S Abstract The structure of the eye is very complex in nature which makes it a challenging task for pharmaceutical researchers to deliver the drug at the desired sites via different routes of administration. The development of the nano-based system has helped in delivering the drug in the desired concentration. Improvement in penetration property, bioavailability, residence time has all been achieved by encapsulating drugs into liposomes, dendrimers, solid lipid nanoparticle, nanostructured lipid carrier, nanoemulsion and nanosuspen...

Bio-inspired Strategies Against Diabetes and Associated Complications: A Review.
Authors: Choudhary S, Kalra V, Kumar M, Tiwary AK, Sood J, Silakari O Abstract Bio-molecules are the most important target to be considered while designing any drug delivery system. The logic lies in using such bio-sensing or bio-mimicking systems in their formulations that can mimic the active site of those receptors to which the drug is going to bind. Polymers mimicking the active site of target enzymes are regarded as bio-inspired polymers and can be used to ameliorate many diseased conditions. Nowadays, this strategy is also being adopted against diabetes and its complications. Under hyperglycemic cond...

Formulation and in vitro evaluation of fast dissolving tablets of Febuxostat using co-processed excipients.
Authors: Kaur M, Mittal A, Gulati M, Sharma D, Kumar R Abstract Febuxostat is a novel, orally administered, powerful, non-purine, xanthine oxidase inhibitor used for treating gout and ceaseless tophaceous gout. The drug exhibits low bioavailability (about 49%) which is ascribed to its dissolution rate limited absorption. The aim of the current work was to provide a novel strategy to improve the dissolution profile and thus, bioavailability of Febuxostat. Formulation of fast dissolving tablets (FDT) is anticipated to provide immediate release of drug, which in turn, will improve its dissolution profile to p...

Next steps in 3D Printing of Fast Dissolving oral Films for Commercial Production.
Authors: Ehtezazi T, Algellay M, Hardy A Abstract 3D printing technique has been utilised to develop novel and complex drug delivery systems that are almost impossible to produce by employing conventional formulation techniques. For example, this technique may be employed to produce tablets or fast dissolving oral films (FDFs) with multilayers of active ingredients, which are personalised to patient's needs. In this article, we compared the production of FDFs by 3D printing to conventional methods such as solvent casting. Then, we evaluated the need for novel methods of producing fast dissolving oral films...
