Identification of multiple plasma lipids as diagnostic biomarkers of hypercholesterolemia and the underlying mechanisms based on pseudo-targeted lipidomics
CONCLUSIONS: This pseudo-targeted lipidomics study demonstrated that multiple sphingomyelins and cholesterol sulfate were differentially expressed in the plasma of patients with hypercholesterolemia. We also identified seven plasma lipids, including six sphingomyelins and cholesterol sulfate, with high diagnostic value.PMID:38504484 | DOI:10.1002/rcm.9723 (Source: Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry : RCM)

Proposal and confirmation of N-(2-carboxyethyl)proline as a human endogenous metabolite
CONCLUSION: The results confirmed that N-(2-carboxyethyl)proline was a new metabolite in human feces and urine samples. In addition, our results demonstrated a case of successful identification of true unknown metabolite by knowledge-based hypothesis of possible metabolites followed by experimental confirmation with a synthetic standard.PMID:38504641 | DOI:10.1002/rcm.9734 (Source: Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry : RCM)

Profiling of urinary steroids aided by lithium ion adduction-based ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry
CONCLUSIONS: Twenty-nine total steroids and 19 free steroids were identified in a limited volume (240 mL) of urine. Of these, 13 3-OH steroids were better detected by Li+ adduction-based UHPLC/MS/MS.PMID:38500352 | DOI:10.1002/rcm.9719 (Source: Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry : RCM)

Perturbations in human bile acid profiles following drug-induced liver injury investigated using semitargeted high-resolution mass spectrometry
CONCLUSION: An optimized chromatographic separation tailored to BAs of ranging polarities was combined with accurate mass measurements to investigate the effect that DILI has on their complex profiles and metabolism to a much wider extent than previously possible. The analysis of complex BA profiles enabled in-depth analysis of the BA metabolism perturbations in ALF, including certain metabolites related to patient outcomes.PMID:38469943 | DOI:10.1002/rcm.9731 (Source: Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry : RCM)

Preliminary investigation on the analysis of the whole components of Pogejiuxin decoction and its formulation pattern based on ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry
CONCLUSION: This study innovatively researches and compares the compositional differences between the entire formula of PGJXD, the single, paired and separated formulas, greatly extending our understanding of the chemical substance basis of these compounds, and preliminarily explores the compatibility laws of PGJXD, providing some theoretical guidance for clinical medication.PMID:38469960 | DOI:10.1002/rcm.9727 (Source: Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry : RCM)
