Giant Pseudoaneurysm of the Brachial Artery in a Newborn

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA one month old boy presented with an anteromedial pulsatile mass in the left upper extremity. He had previously undergone peripheral vein cannulation 7 days before. Computed tomography angiography showed a pseudoaneurysm of the distal brachial artery measuring 50 x 25 x 30 mm (Panel A, arrow). Under general anaesthesia, the proximal and distal brachial artery was exposed (Panel B, arrow), the pseudoaneurysm was resected and, after local infusion of heparin, the repair was performed with 9-0 polypropy...

International Perspective on Extremity Vascular Trauma in Children: A Scoping Review
CONCLUSION: The incidence of extremity vascular trauma appears low in children, with penetrating mechanisms and upper extremity injuries appearing to dominate. Most studies are from high income countries, with likely selection bias towards those treated with operative intervention. Prospective studies are required focusing on patterns of injury, rates of operative and endovascular intervention, and long term outcomes.PMID:38428670 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2024.02.040 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)

Hospital Volume of Elective Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair as a Predictor of Mortality After Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
CONCLUSION: Higher iAAA repair volumes correlated with lower rAAA mortality, particularly for OSR. The recommended iAAA repair threshold is 40 procedures/year and five procedures/year for OSR. These findings support high elective volumes in improving rAAA mortality, especially in OSR.PMID:38428671 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2024.02.034 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)

Comparison of Open Surgery and Endovascular Techniques for Juxtarenal and Complex Neck Aortic Aneurysms: The UK COMPlex AneurySm Study (UK-COMPASS) - Perioperative and Midterm Outcomes
CONCLUSION: FEVAR proves notably safer than OSR in the peri-operative period for juxtarenal aneurysms (0 - 4 mm neck length), with comparable mid term survival. For patients with short neck (5 - 9 mm) and complex neck (≥ 10 mm) AAAs, overall survival was worse in endovascular treated patients compared with OSR despite relative peri-operative safety. This warrants further research and a re-appraisal of the current clinical application of endovascular strategies, particularly in patients with poor general survival outlook owing to comorbidity and age.PMID:38428672 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2024.02.037 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)
