Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the letter regarding my group's Public Health publication ‘Physical functioning and risk for sleep disorders in US adults: results from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2005–2014’ (Gao, 2018).1 We are pleased that the authors in the letter to the editor read our article with great excitement and in addition provided critical insig ht to further expand the interpretation of our findings. Re: ‘Physical functioning and risk for sleep disorders in US adults: results from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2005–2014’
We read with great interest the article by Puri et  al.1 They provided important evidence that adults with self-reported limitations of physical function (PF) had significantly higher odds of having a doctor diagnosed sleep disorder (SD) compared with those without PF limitation. They also found that ‘participants having cognitive problems and ca rdiovascular and pulmonary disorders as secondary conditions that cause difficulty in PF have 145% and 28% higher odds of having a SD’. When defining ‘cognitive problems’, the authors only considered depression, anxiety, and emotional problems, whereas they failed to take...

Re: Human papillomavirus vaccine initiation in Asian Indians and Asian subpopulations: a case for examining disaggregated data in public health research
The recently published article by Budhwani and De1 entitled ‘Human papillomavirus vaccine initiation in Asian Indians and Asian subpopulations: a case for examining disaggregated data in public health research’ is of interest given the dearth of publications that have examined human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination outcomes among Asian-American subpopula tions due to small sample sizes in many data sources. In their report, the authors conclude that Asian Indians had lower HPV vaccine initiation rates than other Asian subgroups and, therefore, recommend that future large-scale studies should disaggregate racial/ethnic ...

Sociocultural barriers to maternity services delivery: a qualitative meta-synthesis of the literature
Maternal and neonatal healthcare outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) remain poor despite decades of different health service delivery interventions and stakeholder investments. Qualitative studies have attributed these results, at least in part, to sociocultural beliefs and practices. Thus there is a need to understand, from an overarching perspective, how these sociocultural beliefs affect maternal and neonatal health (MNH) outcomes. (Source: Public Health)
