Evaluating preschool linear growth velocities: An interim reference illustrated in Nepal
CONCLUSIONS: A linear growth velocity reference, concatenated from extant data, can identify preschool groups at-risk of growth faltering. Application and limitations are discussed.PMID:37932904 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023002409 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Triple burden of malnutrition among Malaysian children aged 6 months to 12 years: Current findings from SEANUTS II Malaysia
CONCLUSIONS: Data from SEANUTS II Malaysia confirmed that triple burden of malnutrition co-exists among children in Peninsular Malaysia, with higher prevalence of overnutrition than undernutrition. Anaemia is highly prevalent among children below 4 years old, while vitamin D insufficiency is more prevalent among girls. Low intakes of dietary calcium and vitamin D are also of concern. These findings provide policymakers with useful and evidence-based data to formulate strategies that address the nutritional issues of Malaysian children.PMID:37932916 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023002239 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

The relationship between nut consumption and premature coronary artery disease in a representative sample of Iranians; Iran-premature coronary artery disease study (I-PAD)
CONCLUSION: A significant inverse association was observed between nut intake and the risk and severity of PCAD in the Iranian population. Large-scale clinical trials are required to confirm these findings.PMID:37927082 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023002392 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Ultra-processing markers are more prevalent in plant-based meat products as compared to their meat-based counterparts in a German food market analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Ultra-processing markers are significantly more prevalent in PBMP as compared to MBP. Since UPF intake has been convincingly linked to metabolic and cardiovascular disease, substituting MBP with PBMP might have negative net health effects.PMID:37927126 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023002458 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Preliminary Evaluation of a Scenario-based Nutrition Literacy Online Program for College Students
CONCLUSIONS: This pilot study offers preliminary evidence of the potential positive effects of implementing a scenario-based NL online program for college students. It offers a possibly novel strategy to enhance health-promoting behaviours in Taiwanese universities. Further research with larger sample sizes and more rigorous designs is warranted to confirm and build upon these initial findings.PMID:37927137 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023002471 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Dual Modality Feeders: A Group of Human Milk Feeders with Unique Practices and Needs
CONCLUSIONS: DMF is a unique practice compared to feeding human milk solely from the breast or bottle. Despite the potential growing prevalence of DMF, it is currently understudied and inadequately addressed in existing support programs in Nova Scotia. Tailored programing and public messaging are needed to support DMF families.PMID:37927150 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980023002367 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

A scoping review of health promotion interventions delivered via social media to women of reproductive age
CONCLUSIONS: We identified nine diverse health promotion interventions conducted via social media which appear acceptable and effective for improving various health outcomes in adult women of reproductive age. While this supports the utility of social media to convey health information, further research is required to prove effectiveness and superiority over other intervention strategies.PMID:37927181 | DOI:10.1017/S136898002300246X (Source: Public Health Nutrition)
