A contextual definition of longitudinal integrated clerkships within the UK and Ireland: A bi-national modified Delphi study
Educ Prim Care. 2023 May 10:1-14. doi: 10.1080/14739879.2023.2204463. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDisagreement exists within the UK and Ireland regarding how Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships should be defined, and the relevance of international definitions. In this modified, online Delphi study, we presented the UK and Ireland experts in Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships with statements drawn from international definitions, published LIC literature, and the research team's experience in this area and asked them to rate their level of agreement with these statements for inclusion in a bi-national consensus definition. ...

Mitochondrial Myopathy in a 21-Year-Old Man Presenting With Bilateral Lower Extremity Weakness and Swelling
We report a case of a 21-year-old student who developed bilateral lower limb weakness, pain, and swelling diagnosed with mitochondrial myopathy on muscle biopsy. Initial laboratory tests revealed elevated creatinine kinase, brain natriuretic peptide, troponin, myoglobin, and lactic acid and reduced serum bicarbonate. Cardiac workup revealed systolic heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction. Endomyocardial biopsy revealed punctate foci of lymphocytic myocarditis. However, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging did not reveal either myocarditis or an infiltrative cardiac disease. An extensive autoimmune and infection work-...

How do Specialists Address Contraceptive Care Compared to General Practitioners in a Federally Qualified Health Center in Maryland
CONCLUSION: The provision of contraceptive care, a critical aspect of comprehensive primary care delivered in an FQHC setting, varies by provider specialty, and may be negatively influenced by Ryan White funding related structures. There is a need to intentionally design robust referral and tracking systems to ensure contraceptive care is equitably accessible to all, regardless of assigned primary care provider specialty or HIV status.PMID:37158591 | DOI:10.1177/21501319231173555 (Source: Primary Care)
