Engaging community pharmacists in tuberculosis-directly observed treatment: a mixed-methods study
This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of implementing community pharmacy-based tuberculosis-directly observed treatment (TB-DOT) in Malaysia.BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) eradication is one of the top priorities in the public health agenda in Malaysia. While public-private mix (PPM) initiatives have been launched, community pharmacists remain undervalued assets in TB management.METHODS: A two-phase mixed-methods study targeting community pharmacists was conducted in Malaysia between March and October 2021. The first phase was an online self-administered survey developed according to the Consolidated Framework for Im...

The Burden of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in Adults: A Real-World Linked Data Study
Conclusions: Patients with ADHD treated with longer DoE formulations had substantially better economic outcomes versus shorter DoE formulation or unmedicated groups, offering potential cost savings to the health care system and the patient. Furthermore, it is important to consider the effect of mental health comorbidities in the overall management of ADHD.PMID:36946563 | DOI:10.4088/PCC.22m03348 (Source: Primary Care)

Factors for not performing total body skin examinations in primary care in association with teledermoscopy
CONCLUSION: Since TDS reduces the opportunities to have a TBSE by dermatologists, the standard management of patients with suspicious skin lesions in primary care must be revised and evidence-based. TBSE is strongly recommended for patients with increased risk of skin cancer, for example old persons with fair skin and a history of skin cancer, when managing them with TDS.PMID:36944927 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02034-4 (Source: Primary Care)

Influence of a guideline or an additional rapid strep test on antibiotic prescriptions for sore throat: the cluster randomized controlled trial of HALS (Hals und Antibiotika Leitlinien Strategien)
CONCLUSION: The scores proposed in the implemented guideline seem inappropriate to lower antibiotic prescriptions for sore throat, but better adherence of practitioners to negative RADTs should lead to fewer prescriptions.TRIAL REGISTRATION: DRKS00013018, retrospectively registered 28.11.2017.PMID:36941540 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-01987-w (Source: Primary Care)

Seeking lifestyle counselling at primary health care centres: a cross-sectional study in the Swedish population
CONCLUSIONS: Primary health care centres are not the first choice for lifestyle counselling for the majority of adults living in Sweden. We have identified factors predicting low likelihood of using the support available at these centres. In order to work with sustainable and visible health-promotive and disease-preventive strategies at primary health care centres, these settings need to find valid methods to involve and collaborate with the members of the general community, to meet the needs of a population struggling with unhealthy lifestyles.PMID:36941550 | PMC:PMC10026786 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-023-02035-3 (Source: Primary Care)

Two focus groups were conducted, one with early career physicians (n = 6) and one with mid- to late career physicians (n = 3). Focus group transcripts w...
