Long-term benefits from selective dorsal rhizotomy in a young patient with cerebral palsy
Conclusions SDR procedure combined with comprehensive rehabilitation programs leads to short- and long-term reduction in the spasticity of a 5-year-old boy with a spastic diplegia. Decreased level of spasticity was accompanied by an increased gross motor functioning and mobility. (Source: Polish Annals of Medicine)

Overview of research over the efficiency of therapies of stuttering
Conclusions Studies on efficiency of therapies of stuttering are scattered, do not cover the whole structure of the disorder and are focused on the symptom i.e. on assessing the severity of speech disfluency. Considering the research done so far, one cannot conclude that some methods are better than others since neither of them were compared in an experimental way. (Source: Polish Annals of Medicine)

Evaluation of dentinal tubules of dentin of the roots of necrotic teeth by means of scanning electron microscope
Conclusions The width of dentinal tubules of necrotic teeth was significantly higher compared to the teeth with vital pulp. Endodontic treatment does not change the width of dentinal tubules. The width of dentinal tubules does not depend on age and gender. (Source: Polish Annals of Medicine)

Description of using transthoracic ultrasound in the diagnosis of low-risk pulmonary embolism in a patient after multiple trauma
Conclusions (1) TUS is a safe, reproducible and inexpensive diagnostic tool. (2) The use of TUS in the diagnosis of PE is well documented, but requires further research including a larger sample size. (3) High sensitivity and specificity of TUS as compared to pulmonary angiography as a reference method, make it a reliable tool in the diagnosis of PE. (4) The lack of blood flow within the consolidated area allows for the exclusion of inflammatory lesions. (Source: Polish Annals of Medicine)

Injury to the duodenum following blunt abdominal trauma – Literature review and case report
Conclusions (1) We wish to emphasize the possibility of injury to the duodenum following blunt abdominal trauma that is difficult to diagnose and not always capable of being confirmed by information obtained during a patient interview as to its specific cause. (2) We draw attention to the necessity of taking a carefully detailed interview with the patient. (Source: Polish Annals of Medicine)

Successful treatment of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis with whole lung lavage and subcutaneous GM-CSF
Conclusions WLL significantly improved our patient's condition, and GM-CSF was effective at prolonging pulmonary washout from excess surfactant. (Source: Polish Annals of Medicine)

Prognostic value of measuring the angles of lumbar lordosis and thoracic kyphosis with the Saunders inclinometer in patients with low back pain
Conclusions (1) An alteration of the spine shape in the sagittal plane can be regarded as one of the potential factors of the LBP risk. (2) Measurements of the LL and TK angular values seem to be a legitimate element of the orthopedic examination of the patients suffering from LBP. (3) Reduction of lumbar lordosis can be an LBP risk factor, particularly in men. (Source: Polish Annals of Medicine)

Feldenkrais method on neck and low back pain to the type of exercises and outcome measurement tools: A systematic review
Conclusions Overall, judging from the increasing number of articles in recent years related to FM, this review reports sufficient evidence that FM is increasingly being used in the management of neck pain and LBP. (Source: Polish Annals of Medicine)

Mathematical models in the evaluation of weight distribution asymmetry in lower limbs: Implication for practice
Conclusions Modified symmetry index has better sensitivity to differences in bilateral lower limb weight distribution and is able to quantify the extent of asymmetries and identifies the side of asymmetry. Based on the study results, we suggest the application of the mathematical models to quantify limb loading in the following order: modified symmetry index, symmetry index, symmetry angle, and symmetry ratio for clinical or research practice. The small cell carcinoma neuroendocrine type of the larynx —Case report
Conclusions This report underscores the need for thorough, systemic diagnostic work-up, and emphasizes that the combination of RT and CHT remains the treatment of choice for ESCCNET (while surgery is reserved for persistent and recurrent disease). In addition, it points out that the new therapeutic strategies to improve survival in ESCCNET are needed, such as a prophylactic cranial irradiation that could be explored in future clinical trials. Depression and dynamic balance recovery among stroke survivors: A preliminary investigation
Conclusions There is a high prevalence of post-stroke depression among stroke survivors and they have poor dynamic balance. However, owing to small sample of participants in the present study, its premature to draw conclusion on the relationship between depression and dynamic balance recovery among stroke survivors from the result of this study.
