Relationships Among Perceived Functional Capacity, Self-Efficacy, and Disability After Dysvascular Amputation
Prosthesis rehabilitation after dysvascular transtibial amputation (TTA) is focused on optimizing functional capacity with limited emphasis on promoting health self-efficacy. Self-efficacy interventions decrease disability for people living with chronic disease, but the influence of self-efficacy on disability is unknown for people with dysvascular TTA. (Source: PM and R)

The Use of Nerve Transfers to Restore Upper Extremity Function in Cervical Spinal Cord Injury
Nerve transfer surgery to restore upper extremity function in cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) is novel and may transform treatment. Determining candidacy even years post-SCI is ill defined and deserves investigation. (Source: PM and R)

49th W. J. Zeiter Lecture, The Specialty of Hope: How Physiatry Made Boston Strong
The 5-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon Bombings (BMB) was April 15, 2018. It is hard to believe that this amount of time has passed, and yet, Boston has been joined by other cities and communities that have experienced mass casualty events in the time since. Unfortunately, there are no clear strategies to insure prevention, and so we as a community of caring individuals must learn to react and respond. (Source: PM and R)

Functional Outcomes of an Interdisciplinary Outpatient Rehabilitation Program for Patients with Malignant Brain Tumors
Malignant brain tumors cause significant impairments in function because of the nature of the disease. Nevertheless, patients with malignant brain tumors can make functional gains equivalent to those with stroke and traumatic brain injury in the inpatient rehabilitation setting. However, the efficacy of outpatient rehabilitation in this population has received little study. (Source: PM and R)

Pharmacologic Treatment for Depression at Injury Is Associated With Fewer Clinician Visits for Persistent Symptoms After Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: A Medical Record Review Study
Depression and traumatic brain injury (TBI) substantially contribute to the US health care burden. Depression is a known risk factor for prolonged recovery after TBI. However, the effect of depression treatment on health care utilization has yet to be studied. (Source: PM and R)

Characteristics and Outcomes of Children With Conversion Disorder Admitted to a Single Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, A Retrospective Study
Conversion disorder (CD) can lead to impaired functioning. Few studies present demographic and outcome data for pediatric patients. Many have had success with rehabilitation; however, further details are not known. (Source: PM and R)

Myocardial Infarction Injury in Patients with Chronic Lung Disease Entering Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Frequency and Association with Heart Rate Parameters
Myocardial infarction (MI) remains under-recognized in chronic lung disease (CLD) patients. Rehabilitation health professionals need accessible clinical measurements to identify the presence of prior MI in order to determine appropriate training prescription. (Source: PM and R)
