Emphasis should be placed on identifying and reporting research priorities to increase research value: An empirical analysis
ConclusionsThere was still considerable room for improvement in the developing and reporting of research priorities in Chinese CPGs. Key PICO elements were inadequately presented, with more attention on intervention efficacy and insufficient consideration given to values, preferences, health equity, and feasibility. Identifying and reporting of research priorities deserves greater effort in the future. (Source: PLoS One)

No evidence for adult smartphone use affecting attribution of communicative intention in toddlers: Online imitation study using the Sock Ball Task
by Solveig Flateb ø, Gabriella Óturai, Mikołaj Hernik Adults infer others’ communicative intentions, or lack thereof, from various types of information. Young children may be initially limited to attributions based on a small set of ostensive signals. It is unknown when richer pragmatic inferences about communicative intentions emerge in developmen t. We sought novel type of evidence for such inferences in 17-to-19-month-olds. We hypothesized that toddlers recognize adults’ smartphone use in face-to-face interactions as incongruous with ostension and would rely on this interpretation when inferring the communicativ...

Causal role of metabolites in non-small cell lung cancer: Mendelian randomization (MR) study
by Qian Li, Zedong Wei, Yonglun Zhang, Chongqing Zheng On a global scale, lung cancer(LC) is the most commonly occurring form of cancer. Nonetheless, the process of screening and detecting it in its early stages presents significant challenges. Earlier research endeavors have recognized metabolites as potentially reliable biomarkers for LC. However, t he majority of these studies have been limited in scope, featuring inconsistencies in terms of the relationships and levels of association observed. Moreover, there has been a lack of consistency in the types of biological samples utilized in previous studies. Therefore, the ...

Prevalence of fatigue and cognitive impairment after traumatic brain injury
This study was conducted to determine the relative prevalence of fatigue and cognitive impairment in individuals with a history of TBI. MethodsThe Fatigue and Altered Cognition Scale (FACs) digital questionnaire was used to assess self-reported fatigue and cognitive impairment. Adults aged 18 –70 were digitally recruited for the online anonymous study. Eligible participants provided online consent, demographic data, information about lifetime TBI history, and completed the 20 item FACs questionnaire. ResultsA total of 519 qualifying participants completed the online digital study which included 204 participants with a hi...

Transgenerational effects of pyriproxyfen in a field strain of < i > Musca domestica < /i > L. (Diptera: Muscidae)
by Naeem Iqbal, Nauman Sadiq, Muhammad Nadir Naqqash, Muhammad Usman, Hafiz Azhar Ali Khan, Allah Ditta Abid, Muhammad Sohail ShahzadMusca domestica L. (Muscidae: Diptera) is a human and livestock pest especially in tropical and sub-tropical areas. Different insecticides have been used to control this pest that pose serious harmful effects on humans and the environment. The current study was planned to investigate the effects of two concentrations (LC25 and LC50) of pyriproxyfen on biological and population parameters of a field strain ofM.domestica. The exposed parents (F0) and their progeny (F1) were studied to examine t...
