Endoscopic endonasal marsupialization of rathke cleft cysts: clinical outcomes and risk factors analysis of visual impairment, pituitary dysfunction, and CSF leak
ConclusionCarefully considering risk factors, surgeons can appropriately counsel patients and deliver expectations for complications and long-term results. In contrast to preoperative visual impairment, preoperative pituitary dysfunction was found to have the least improvement post-surgery. It was the most significant permanent complication, with our data indicating the link to the cyst signal intensity on T2 MR and inflammation on histopathology. Earlier surgical intervention might improve the preservation of pituitary function. (Source: Pituitary)

The impact of facility type and volume on treatment and overall survival in craniopharyngioma
ConclusionTreatment of craniopharyngioma at HVC compared to LVC is associated with improved OS, lower 30- and 90-day postoperative mortality risk, and more common use of both radiotherapy and endoscopic surgical approach. (Source: Pituitary)

Clinical characteristics and therapeutic outcomes of acromegalic patients with giant growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenomas: a single-center study of 67 cases
ConclusionsWith aggressive multimodal therapy, the biochemical remission rate of acromegalic patients with giant GHPAs is comparable to that of patients with macro adenoma. However, postoperative complications and hypopituitarism need to be closely monitored. (Source: Pituitary)

Reported baseline variables in transsphenoidal surgery for pituitary adenoma over a 30 year period: a systematic review
ConclusionsThere is heterogeneity in the reporting of baseline variables in patients undergoing transsphenoidal surgery for pituitary adenoma. This review supports the need to develop a common data element to facilitate meaningful comparative research, trial design, and reduce research inefficiency. (Source: Pituitary)

Metastatic pituitary tumors: an institutional case series
ConclusionPituitary carcinomas are highly recurrent, heterogenous tumors with variable responses to treatment. Multidisciplinary management with an experienced neuro-endocrine and neuro-oncology team is needed given the unrelenting nature of this disease. (Source: Pituitary)

Growth hormone insensitivity and adipose tissue: tissue morphology and transcriptome analyses in pigs and humans
ConclusionAT ofGHR-KO pigs has several similarities to that of humans with LS in terms of adipocyte size and gene expression profile that help describe the depot-specific adipose phenotype of both groups. (Source: Pituitary)

Clinical and prognostic significance of granulation patterns in somatotroph adenomas/tumors of the pituitary: a meta-analysis
ConclusionSGST and DGST were demographically, clinicopathologically, and molecularly different from each other with the former associated with adverse treatment outcomes and poor response to medical therapy. There are still gaps in translational studies that could help us better understand the behavior of these tumors and identify potential targets in the treatment of sparsely granulated tumors.
