The use of creative case studies to explore non-verbal and non-ambulant children and young people ’s well-being.
The aim of this paper is to describe and critically analyse creative research methods, exploring how these can offer ways to enable non-verbal and non-ambulant children and young people with cerebral palsy, to express their views about their well-being. The context of this research explored their choices for recreational activities, seeking to understand how their level of participation impacted upon their well-being. (Source: Physiotherapy)

The National Suspected Cauda Equina Syndrome Pathway: implications for physiotherapists
Cauda equina syndrome results from compression of the lumbosacral nerve roots in the thecal sac of the lumbar spine. Prompt diagnosis and emergency treatment is vital to avoid disability from nerve damage, including irreversible loss of bowel and bladder control, lower limb paralysis and chronic pain. National guidance has been published by the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) initiative, in conjunction with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the British Association of Spinal Surgeons [1]. Physiotherapy for people with dementia: a Call to Action for the development of clinical guidelines
Dementia is a leading cause of disability and dependency worldwide, with major physical, psychological, social, and economic impacts on individuals, families, carers, and society [1]. Population ageing will see the number of people living globally with dementia rise substantially, from approximately 57 million cases in 2019, to a projected 153 million cases in 2050 [2]. The physical, cognitive, and functional disability associated with dementia equates to enormous costs of care globally, with informal care provision accounting for approximately 50% of the estimated US$1.3 trillion dementia cost in 2019 [3,4]. Video Analysis of Communication by Physiotherapists and Patients in Video Consultations: A Qualitative Study using Conversation Analysis
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to rapid implementation of video consultations across physiotherapy services. While patients and physiotherapists often report positive experiences with this remote service model, they are also concerned that physiotherapists cannot lay hands on the patients. This can make it difficult to conduct a high-quality physical examination and have the patient perform exercises safely. While there is an extensive and fast-growing body of research on video consultations, to our knowledge, no study has used micro-analytic methods to investigate how video consultations are actually being delivered and ho...

Development and feasibility of an exercise training program in primary care for patients with COPD experiencing an acute exacerbation
Starting rehabilitation soon after an acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) is crucial to diminish the detrimental effects of this acute event on muscle function. However, uptake in outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation is low. (Source: Physiotherapy)

Research from low-income and middle-income countries will benefit global health and the physiotherapy profession, but it requires support
Disparities in research publications are common in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation fields [1]. A small proportion of published research arises from low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), [1,2] home to 85% of the world's population. Systems-level, institutional-level, and individual-level factors contribute to these disparities. With urgent and unified actions, global health and the standard of physiotherapy research in LMICs can be improved and strengthened. In this editorial, we will discuss the challenges encountered by researchers from LMICs in conducting and publishing high-quality research and propose po...
