Asprosin improved neuronal survival by suppressing apoptosis and enhancing the activity of the autophagy pathway in the MCAO model in rats
CONCLUSIONS: Asp has protective and therapeutic effects against CI/R damage. While applying Asp before ischemia activates the autophagy pathway more, applying it after ischemia protects the neuronal death/survival balance by activating the apoptosis pathway more.PMID:38497877 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35608 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Causal role of gut microbiota in intracranial aneurysm: evidence from a Mendelian randomization study
CONCLUSIONS: MR analyses identified several gut microbiota taxa that have a causal relationship with IA. Future research should prioritize understanding the mechanisms underlying this causal relationship, as it is expected to contribute to the development of new methods for predicting and treating IA.PMID:38497878 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35609 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Negative outcomes pertaining to patients that leave against medical advice: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: While individual studies reported varying outcomes, the pooled results did not show a significant association between LAMA and increased 1-year mortality or hospital readmission rates. However, the high degree of heterogeneity suggests the influence of diverse patient populations, healthcare settings, and study methodologies on these outcomes. Further research is needed to better understand the factors contributing to the adverse outcomes associated with LAMA and to develop targeted interventions to mitigate them.PMID:38497880 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35612 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Metabolic control level and glucose variability in adolescents with type 1 diabetes during low and high-intensity exercise
CONCLUSIONS: HbA1c levels are insufficient to confirm whether the applied effort is performed in acceptable glycemic values. The CGM monitors allow for precise control of BG variations and accurate planning of physical activity by adjusting the insulin and carbohydrate consumption dose.PMID:38497881 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35613 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Association between Parvovirus B19 and thyroid/celiac autoantibodies among T1DM pediatric patients
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of autoantibodies against the thyroid was higher among the seropositive Parvovirus B19 children with T1DM. A positive association between the prevalence of autoantibodies against thyroid disease and the increase in the duration of diabetes was also noted. Hence, periodic screening of T1DM patients for B19 antibodies and autoantibodies for thyroid is crucial.PMID:38497882 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35614 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Association between uncarboxylated osteocalcin, blood glucose, and BMI among Saudi diabetic patients: an evaluation study
CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that, in Saudi type II diabetes mellitus patients, the compromised glucose level is associated with diminished serum uncarboxylated osteocalcin. This study has limitations, such as a small sample size and only measuring the uncarboxylated form of plasma osteocalcin. Future research is needed to understand how anti-diabetic drugs affect undercarboxylated osteocalcin's effect on metabolic control and provide more efficient techniques and resources in diabetes and osteoporosis prevention and care.PMID:38497883 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35615 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

APOA-5 genetic variant and a hypocaloric diet enriched in ω-6 fatty acids with Mediterranean pattern
CONCLUSIONS: Our data demonstrate that the minor C allele of the APOA5 gene (rs662799) produces a worse response in triglyceride levels, insulin levels, and HOMA-IR after a ω-6 PUFA enriched hypocaloric diet with Mediterranean pattern.PMID:38497884 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35616 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Identification and validation of a novel cuproptosis signature for stratifying different prognostic, immune, metabolic, and therapeutic landscapes in pancreatic adenocarcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: The novel CR risk signature contributed to the risk stratification of PAAD patients. Cuproptosis regulatory genes, well represented by LIPT1, provided new insights into PAAD treatment and assessment.PMID:38497885 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35617 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

5 signature genes revealed by single-cell profiling identified unique immune subtypes affecting the prognosis of ovarian cancer
CONCLUSIONS: We subclustered ovarian cancer patients by 5 signature genes obtained from the Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) dataset, which demonstrated a good typing effect. Patients in the two molecular subtypes showed better survival, higher immune cell infiltration, and higher drug sensitivity. This meticulous typing may help clinicians to quickly assess the prognosis of patients and the response to immunotherapy and chemotherapy.PMID:38497886 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35618 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Unveiling the antinociceptive mechanisms of Methyl-2-(4-chloro-phenyl)-5-benzoxazoleacetate: insights from nociceptive assays in mice
CONCLUSIONS: MCBA-induced antinociception involves modulation of glutamatergic-, TRVP1 receptors- and PKC-signaling pathways. It impacts adenosinergic, alpha-2 adrenergic, and cholinergic receptors and opens ATP-sensitive potassium channels.PMID:38497888 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35620 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

A 3.5-year clinical experience with perampanel for refractory epilepsy
CONCLUSIONS: Perampanel was effective as an adjunctive treatment for intractable seizures, with a responder rate of 66.7%. The long-term tolerability of perampanel was generally good. Aggressive behavior was the most common reason for perampanel discontinuation. Patients should be counseled and monitored for these adverse effects, particularly those with a history of previous psychiatric and behavioral problems.PMID:38497889 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35621 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Dual disorder: does expert clinical experience support the rationale for cariprazine use?
In conclusion, the panel recommends that individuals with DD should be cared for in a single center. Pharmacologic treatment in individuals with DD needing both control of symptoms related to schizophrenia spectrum disorders and substance withdrawal should ideally be based on using a non-sedative antipsychotic with anti-craving activity.PMID:38497891 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35622 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)
