Unveiling the antinociceptive mechanisms of Methyl-2-(4-chloro-phenyl)-5-benzoxazoleacetate: insights from nociceptive assays in mice
CONCLUSIONS: MCBA-induced antinociception involves modulation of glutamatergic-, TRVP1 receptors- and PKC-signaling pathways. It impacts adenosinergic, alpha-2 adrenergic, and cholinergic receptors and opens ATP-sensitive potassium channels.PMID:38497888 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35620 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

A 3.5-year clinical experience with perampanel for refractory epilepsy
CONCLUSIONS: Perampanel was effective as an adjunctive treatment for intractable seizures, with a responder rate of 66.7%. The long-term tolerability of perampanel was generally good. Aggressive behavior was the most common reason for perampanel discontinuation. Patients should be counseled and monitored for these adverse effects, particularly those with a history of previous psychiatric and behavioral problems.PMID:38497889 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35621 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Atypical dermoid cyst of the corpus callosum: a case report
CONCLUSIONS: This paper underscores the importance of a timely, proper radiological diagnostic process, which sees magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the main step, as well as the fact that interpretation of MRI data can sometimes be challenging, as it was in the patient of this report.PMID:38497890 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35611 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Dual disorder: does expert clinical experience support the rationale for cariprazine use?
In conclusion, the panel recommends that individuals with DD should be cared for in a single center. Pharmacologic treatment in individuals with DD needing both control of symptoms related to schizophrenia spectrum disorders and substance withdrawal should ideally be based on using a non-sedative antipsychotic with anti-craving activity.PMID:38497891 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35622 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Tocilizumab treatment in COVID-19 patients: therapy's side effects and effect on mortality
CONCLUSIONS: Despite the risks of side effects, tocilizumab was used in COVID-19 treatment since it is an interleukin-6 blocker. Although the first publications stated that the treatment could decrease the mortality rate, later meta-analyses did not support these results. Our study also found that using tocilizumab did not make a difference in long-term mortality. We also observed that the known side effects were seen in short-term use.PMID:38497892 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35623 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Author Correction: High expression of MMP14 is associated with progression and poor short-term prognosis in muscle-invasive bladder cancer
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2024 Mar;28(5):1640. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202403_35574.ABSTRACTCorrection to: Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci 2020; 24 (12): 6605-6615-DOI: 10.26355/eurrev_202006_21646-published online on June 25, 2020. After publication, the authors have applied some corrections to the galley proof: - In Table II, data display in MMP14 expression between Low and high group was inverted. This correction does not involve any statistical data modification and does not affect the conclusion of the article. The correct table display should be as follows: - In Figure 4F, the cell invasion image of siRNA-2 group in T24 was ...

Identifying critical genes and pathways of doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy via bioinformatics analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The present study identified a series of key genes, including Col1a1, Col3a1, Col1a2, Col6a1, Ptprc, Tyrobp, Itgb2, and Ctss. In addition, important pathways were also discovered. The results of this study may provide a novel molecular mechanism and potential therapeutic targets for DCM.PMID:38497849 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35578 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

Survey of the clinical practices of physiotherapists for the management of post-stroke fatigue
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that while physiotherapists practicing in Saudi Arabia have a sound theoretical understanding of PSF management, their knowledge does not necessarily translate into practice. Interventions used to treat PSF include bed and chair exercises, functional training, and resistance training.PMID:38497850 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35579 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

The experience of the rigid lockdown in the dental emergency room and urgency care during COVID-19 pandemic: a transnational multicenter observational study
CONCLUSIONS: After the lockdown period, the emergency services slowly increased in cases. The pre-COVID period showed an overlapping of the most frequent pathologies compared to the post-COVID period: periodontitis (Bari and Tirana), dental fractures (Bari and Bucharest), odontogenic abscess (Bari, Cluj and Tirana).PMID:38497854 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35585 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)

A simple technical innovation to prevent needle stick injuries among dental professionals
CONCLUSIONS: There is no statistically significant difference in the assessment of the efficacy of dental tweezers and the one-hand scoop technique, bayonet root forceps, mandibular anterior forceps, maxillary anterior forceps, and dental tweezers for the needle capping technique. Therefore, dental forceps can be used instead of the one-handed scoop approach. The needle recapping procedure outlined in our study, aimed at preventing needle stick injuries, is simple to implement, and all dental specialties have convenient access to the required instruments.PMID:38497855 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202403_35586 (Source: Pharmacological Reviews)
