Cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita in a newborn: A differential diagnosis
A full-term male delivered by cesarean section to a primiparous mother presented with reticular erythematous patches over the right thigh and anterolateral aspect of right-side of the chest at the time of birth. These lesions were localized and did not cross the midline; moreover, they did not disappear with warming. No hypertrophy or atrophy was detected in any limb. The patient had no history of exposure to medication during the antenatal period and no family history of vascular malformations. (Source: Pediatrics and Neonatology)

Cardiopulmonary functional capacity in Taiwanese children with ventricular septal defects
Children with ventricular septal defects (VSDs) are considered to have no difference in cardiopulmonary functional capacity with healthy children of the same age; however, studies have shown contradictory findings. The aim of this study was to assess whether Taiwanese children with VSDs exhibited cardiopulmonary deficits. (Source: Pediatrics and Neonatology)

Effect of Birth Asphyxia on Neonatal Blood Glucose During the Early Postnatal Life :a Multi-center Study in Hubei Province, China
Birth asphyxia causes hypoxia or inadequate perfusion to the organs of newborns, leading to metabolism dysfunctions including blood glucose disorders. Methods: Neonates with and without birth asphyxia were retrospectively recruited from 53 hospitals in Hubei Province from January 1 to December 31, 2018. In summary, 875, 1139, and 180 cases in the control group, the mild asphyxia group, and the severe asphyxia group were recruited, respectively. Neonatal blood glucose values at postnatal 1, 2, 6, and 12 h (time error within 0.5 h was allowed) were gathered from the medical records. (Source: Pediatrics and Neonatology)

Correlation of hepatic transient elastography measurements and abdominal adiposity in children: A cross-sectional study
Transient elastography is a non-invasive assessment of steatosis (measured as the controlled attenuation parameter, [CAP]) and fibrosis (measured as liver stiffness measurement, [LSM]) in patients with pediatric non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Abdominal adiposity is considered the most important factor for metabolic dysregulation including NAFLD. However, there is lack of a correlation between transient elastography measurements and abdominal adiposity. Accordingly, this study aimed to assess the correlation between transient elastography measurements and abdominal adiposity in children. (Source: Pediatrics and Neonatology)
