Is ultrasonography a reliable approach for the evaluation of carpal tunnel syndrome in patients with mucopolysaccharidosis?
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) refers to a compressive neuropathy of the median nerve at the wrist. It is rare in childhood, and usually occurs due to secondary reasons [1], with mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) being the most common cause in childhood [2]. Some MPS subtypes, however, present with cognitive impairment, and so merely questioning the symptoms may not raise suspicion of CTS in some patients. The detection of thenar atrophy is difficult in patients with MPS due to associated claw hand deformities and limited movement in the presence of bone and tendon abnormalities [3]. Clinical Profile and Predictors of Recurrent Simple Febrile Seizure
Recurrent simple febrile seizure (SFS) refers to febrile seizures (FS) that recur within 24 hours. Patients with recurrent SFS often undergo unnecessary neurodiagnostic tests. To address this, we compared the clinical characteristics of recurrent SFS with those of SFS and investigated the risk factors associated with recurrent SFS. (Source: Pediatric Neurology)
