Clinicopathological and genetic landscape of plasmablastic lymphoma in Taiwan
In conclusion, most PBL cases in Taiwan were HIV-unrelated. Around half of the cases were positive for EBV, with distinct clinicopathological features. Deletion of chromosome 13q14 was frequent. The PBL cases in Taiwan showed recurrent mutations involving JAK-STAT, RAS-MAPK, epigenetic regulation, and NOTCH signaling pathways, findings similar to that from the West.PMID:38160484 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2023.155059 (Source: Pathology, Research and Practice)

METTL3/YTHDF1 m < sup > 6 < /sup > A axis promotes tumorigenesis by enhancing DDR2 expression in ovarian cancer
In this study, we demonstrated that the METTL3/YTHDF1 m6A axis plays an important role in the progression of ovarian cancer. Depletion of METTL3/YTHDF1 impaired cancer proliferation and metastasis in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, The METTL3/YTHDF1 m6A axis directly binds to the mRNA of DDR2, thereby promoting the expression levels of the tumor promoter DDR2 and thus contributing to the progression of ovarian cancer. Collectively, our findings on the METTL3/YTHDF1/DDR2 m6A axis provide the insight into the underlying mechanism of ovarian carcinogenesis and highlight potential therapeutic targets for cancer treatment.P...

Nestin may be a candidate marker for differential diagnosis between small duct type and large duct type intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas
CONCLUSION: Different nestin expression may reflect differences between small duct type iCCA and large duct type/extrahepatic CCA and may be a useful diagnostic marker for small duct type iCCAs.PMID:38154357 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2023.155061 (Source: Pathology, Research and Practice)

Vasculogenic mimicry-associated novel gene signature predicted prognosis and response to immunotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma
CONCLUSION: This study highlights that VM modifications are significantly associated with the diversity and complexity of TME, revealing new features of the immune microenvironment in lung adenocarcinoma and providing a new strategy for immunotherapy. Screening ANLN as a critical target for vasculogenic mimicry in lung adenocarcinoma provides a novel perspective for the targeted treatment of lung adenocarcinoma.PMID:38147724 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2023.155048 (Source: Pathology, Research and Practice)

Emerging role of lncRNAs in the etiology of recurrent implantation failure
Pathol Res Pract. 2023 Dec 21;253:155057. doi: 10.1016/j.prp.2023.155057. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRecurrent implantation failure (RIF) is a complex clinical entity with several molecular pathways contributing to its pathogenesis. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have recently been found to affect the normal implantation, thus aberrant expression of these transcripts is involved in RIF. Altered expression of HOXA11-AS, NONHSAT193031.1, NONHSAT053761.2, NONHSAT083203.2, LUCAT1, PART1, TUNAR, LINC02190, lncSAMD11-1:1 and H19 has been reported in this condition. Moreover, polymorphisms within some lncRNAs have been shown t...

Current state of knowledge and challenges for harnessing the power of dendritic cells in cancer immunotherapy
This study offers a thorough summary of recent developments as well as potential future paths for DC-based immunotherapy against cancer. This study reviews the many methods used in DC therapy, such as vaccination and active cellular immunotherapy. The effectiveness and safety of DC-based treatments for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and non-small cell lung cancer are highlighted in these investigations. The findings indicate longer survival times and superior results for particular patient groups. We are aware of the difficulties and restrictions of DC-based immunotherapy, though. These include the immunos...
