Well-Differentiated Grade 3 Neuroendocrine Tumors: Characteristics, Treatments, and Outcomes From a Population-Based Study
Conclusions Capecitabine-temozolomide and somatostatin analogs were associated with clinically meaningful benefit, and use of local therapies provided benefits in selected patients. Multidisciplinary discussion is essential to optimize individual outcomes in this heterogeneous population. (Source: Pancreas)

The Use of Vasopressors During Deceased Donor Pancreas Procurement Decreases the Risk of Pancreas Transplant Graft Failure
The objective of this study was to identify the effect of various vasopressors on pancreas graft failure and patient survival. Methods A retrospective analysis of the United Network for Organ Sharing database was performed between 2000 and 2019. Patient and graft survival rates were analyzed up to 5 years posttransplant. Results The data included 17,348 pancreas transplant recipients: 12,857 simultaneous pancreas-kidney, 1440 pancreas transplant alone, and 3051 pancreas-after-kidney transplant recipients. Use of dopamine during deceased donor procurement increased graft failure by 18% (hazard ratio [HR], 1.18...

Emodin Alleviates Sodium Taurocholate–Induced Pancreatic Ductal Cell Damage by Inhibiting the S100A9/VNN1 Signaling Pathway
Conclusions Emodin attenuates STC-induced pancreatic ductal cell injury possibly by inhibiting S100A9/VNN1-mediated ROS release. This finding provides evidence for the future development of emodin as a therapeutic agent. (Source: Pancreas)

Salivary Biomarker Evaluation of Chronic Pancreatitis Patients Reveals Alterations in Human Proteins, Cytokines, Prostaglandin E2 Levels, and Bacterial Diversity
Conclusions Collectively, our studies identify a range of putative CP biomarkers and alterations in human saliva requiring further validation. The biomarker discovery approaches we used might lead to identification of biomarkers useful for CP diagnosis and monitoring. (Source: Pancreas)

Clinical Trials in Pancreatitis: Opportunities and Challenges in the Design and Conduct of Patient-Focused Clinical Trials in Recurrent Acute and Chronic Pancreatitis: Summary of a National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases Workshop
Recurrent acute pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis represent high morbidity diseases, which are frequently associated with chronic abdominal pain, pancreatic insufficiencies, and reduced quality of life. Currently, there are no therapies to reverse or delay disease progression, and clinical trials are needed to investigate potential interventions that would address this important gap. This conference report provides details regarding information shared during a National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases–sponsored workshop on Clinical Trials in Pancreatitis that sought to clearly delineate the cur...

Pancreatic Heterotopia in the Small Bowel: A Case Report and Literature Review
We report the case of a 66-year-old man who presented with ileus and jejunal PH diagnosed using single-balloon enteroscopy. Reviewing 178 cases of small intestinal PH in the literature showed that (1) PH mostly occurred at the duodenum (61.8%), followed by the jejunum (22.5%) and ileum (14.6%); (2) patients with ileal PH were younger (mean, 40.7 vs 54.6 years; P (Source: Pancreas)
