Correlation of 99mTc‐DPD SPECT/CT Scan Findings and Diagnostic Blockades of Lumbar Medial Branches in Patients with Unspecific Low Back Pain in a Randomized‐Controlled Trial
ConclusionCompared with diagnostic infiltrations SPECT/CT scans showed only a moderate sensitivity and specificity and, therefore, may not be recommended as a first line diagnostic tool prior to diagnostic infiltrations. (Source: Pain Medicine)

Comparative Analgesic Efficacy of Oxycodone/Acetaminophen vs Codeine/Acetaminophen for Short‐Term Pain Management Following ED Discharge
ConclusionOur hypothesis that oxycodone/acetaminophen provides analgesia superior to codeine/acetaminophen was rejected. Although pain within each group was reduced by more than half, the between‐group difference was not significant. Pending independent validation, these unexpected findings suggest that codeine/acetaminophen, a Schedule III agent, may be a clinically reasonable outpatient opioid alternative to oxycodone/acetaminophen, a more tightly restricted Schedule II agent thought to be more prone to misuse. Fluoroscopically Guided Diagnostic and Therapeutic Intra‐Articular Sacroiliac Joint Injections: A Systematic Review
ConclusionsBased on this literature, it is unclear whether image‐guided intra‐articular diagnostic injections of local anesthetic predict positive responses to therapeutic agents. The overall quality of evidence is moderate for the effectiveness of therapeutic SIJ injections. (Source: Pain Medicine)

Core Competencies in Integrative Pain Care for Entry‐Level Primary Care Physicians
ConclusionThese core competencies can guide the incorporation of KSAs within curricula. The learning experiences should enable medical educators and graduating primary care physicians to focus more on integrative approaches, interprofessional team‐based, patient‐centered care that use evidence‐based, traditional and complementary disciplines and therapeutics to provide safe and effective treatments for people in pain.
