Interocular Phase Disparity Tuning of Binocular Contrast Summation Depends on Carrier Spatial Frequency and Orientation
CONCLUSIONS Binocular summation magnitude is less dependent on interocular phase disparities for carrier spatial frequencies that exceed 3 cpd, especially with vertical gratings. Although vergence variability due to fixation disparities contributes to the overall reduction in binocular summation magnitude with increasing carrier spatial frequency, it does not provide a complete account for the lack of interocular phase disparity tuning noted with high grating spatial frequencies. Clinical Report: Correlation of Serum Vitamins and Chalazion
CONCLUSIONS Low serum vitamin A was significantly associated with chalazion in children. The serum 25(OH)D level exhibited no correlation with chalazion. (Source: Optometry and Vision Science)

Case Report: Acute Posterior Multifocal Placoid Pigment Epitheliopathy after SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination
CONCLUSIONS Acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy is a self-limited inflammatory condition of the outer retina that usually affects young adults and often does not require treatment. It has been reported to occur after vaccination for influenza, polio, hepatitis B, meningococcus C, and varicella zoster virus. This is the first known case to occur after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in a healthy adolescent boy. (Source: Optometry and Vision Science)

Case Series: Underdiagnosis of Ocular and Oculocutaneous Rosacea in an African American Pediatric Population
CONCLUSIONS These two cases bring attention to the underdiagnosis and misdiagnosis of ocular and oculocutaneous rosacea in pediatric patients with darkly pigmented skin. Timely and accurate diagnosis is critical to minimize the risk of significant visual and dermatological sequelae. (Source: Optometry and Vision Science)

Rasch-calibrated Intermittent Exotropia Symptom Questionnaire for Children
CONCLUSIONS The seven-item Rasch-scored Child Intermittent Exotropia Symptom Questionnaire is limited by suboptimal performance. Future study is needed to determine whether it may be useful for clinical practice and for research. (Source: Optometry and Vision Science)

Ocular and Nonocular Adverse Events during 3 Years of Soft Contact Lens Wear in Children
CONCLUSIONS The adverse events experienced by 7- to 11–year-old myopic children rarely required meaningful treatment and never led to permanent discontinuation of contact lens wear or loss of best-corrected vision. (Source: Optometry and Vision Science)

Effect of Time Outdoors and Near-viewing Time on Myopia Progression in 9- to 11-year-old Children in Chongqing
SIGNIFICANCE We used an Akeso device to record the visual behavior of children with myopia in two learning modes. We found that online class mode may increase near-viewing time and reduce outdoor time compared with the traditional school mode and may be responsible for accelerating myopia progression. PURPOSE We aimed to explore the effects of visual behavior in different learning modes on myopia progression among children 9 to 11 years old. METHODS Forty-nine children were included and requested to use a wearable device to objectively record visual behavior in real time from November 2019 to November 202...

Case Report: Pediatric Ocular Ischemia and Neovascular Glaucoma in Neurofibromatosis Type 1
CONCLUSIONS Vasculopathy of the ophthalmic circulation is an important cause of neovascular glaucoma in neurofibromatosis patients. The morphology of Lisch nodules may be altered in an ischemic eye, and therefore, careful examination of the other eye and systemic evaluation is vital in such unusual scenarios. Monocular Perception of Equidistance: The Effects of Viewing Experience and Motion-generated Information
CONCLUSIONS Using static and dynamic monocular depth information and/or with monocular experience, normal observers judged equidistance with reliable accuracy and precision. This implied that patients with monocular vision, who are better adapted than participants of this study, should also be able to perceive equidistance and perform distance-dependent tasks in natural viewing environments.
