Physical Activity Spaces Not Effective against Socioeconomic Inequalities in Myopia Incidence: The Generation R Study
SIGNIFICANCE Our findings show that non-Dutch background, lower maternal education, and lower net household income level may be new risk factors for myopia development in the Netherlands. Newly introduced physical activity spaces may not be effective enough in increasing outdoor exposure in children to reduce eye growth. PURPOSE The aims of this study were to evaluate socioeconomic inequalities in myopia incidence, eye growth, outdoor exposure, and computer use and to investigate if newly introduced physical activity spaces can reduce eye growth in school-aged children. METHODS Participants (N = 2643) fro...

Evaluation of Average Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Measurement in Eyes with Refractive Errors
CONCLUSIONS For the correct interpretation of the measurements of pRNFL in patients with refractive errors, an original table was proposed, which provides a quick assessment of the results obtained on the Cirrus HD-OCT device. The proposed new formulas make it easy to calculate a similar table for any optical coherence tomography device using existing databases or after collecting a normative database of eyes with refraction close to emmetropia. Photometric and Colorimetric Evaluation of Phototherapy Instruments for Syntonic Treatment of Visual Anomalies
CONCLUSIONS The spectral and iluminance characteristics of syntonic systems used for vision therapy vary widely, including variations among filters with the same identifying characteristics. This provides significant sources of variability, which limit the ability to conduct evidence-based medicine clinical trials to assess the true efficacy of syntonic therapy. This study furthers our knowledge of syntonic phototherapy from a technical perspective; however, longitudinal research examining patients' evolution pre-lighting and post-lighting treatments is required to justify and understand the effects of light exposure a...

Objective Assessment of Corneal and Lens Clarity in Patients with COVID-19
SIGNIFICANCE The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 virus, which causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, can bind to epithelial cells in the human cornea and conjunctiva, which may result in changes of corneal and lenticular densitometry. PURPOSE We aimed to report the corneal and lenticular clarity of patients who had been diagnosed previously with confirmed infection of COVID-19. METHODS This was a prospective, cross-sectional study. Fifty-three patients who had recovered from COVID-19 and 51 healthy individuals who had not had COVID-19 (control) were included in this study...

Accuracy and Repeatability of Internet-ordered Spectacle Lenses
CONCLUSIONS Almost 1 in 10 spectacle lens prescriptions ordered from three online vendors failed to meet national standards for optical quality. Additional studies are needed to assess eyewear ordered online for other important patient-specific variables that can influence visual performance and ultimate acceptability of prescription eyewear, such as lens placement relative to the visual axis, frame fit, and cosmetic acceptability. Licensure and Driving Status among Visually Impaired Persons
This study aimed to determine what proportion of visually impaired patients continue driving despite falling short of the legal cutoffs described in state licensure laws. METHODS We created a driving habits survey and administered it to 335 consecutive adult low vision patients presenting for their initial evaluation at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute. We measured visual acuity and contrast sensitivity as part of the clinical evaluation and accounted for historic visual field results where indicated. We compared self-reported licensure and driving status against the vision criteria for licensure in each subject's home ...

Deployment of the Water Drinking Test and iCare HOME Phasing for Intraocular Pressure Profiling in Glaucoma Evaluation
CONCLUSIONS Intraocular pressure profiling using both techniques can reveal the peak IOP, and these measurements are strongly correlated. Most patients were unable to complete the iCare HOME according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Clinicians should select the most appropriate technique for each patient. Case Report: Ipilimumab-induced Multisystem Autoimmune-like Toxicities Suggestive of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada–like Syndrome
CONCLUSIONS Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada–like syndrome can develop in the process of immunological deregulation by ipilimumab in the treatment of metastatic melanoma and can correlate temporally with the efficacy of the drug in tumor regression. These observations may help elucidate the underlying mechanism of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome as well as the relation between tumor-associated tolerance and autoimmunity. Case Report: Postpartum Purtscher-like Retinopathy
CONCLUSIONS Purtscher-like retinopathy can occur after childbirth, usually within 1 to 2 days postpartum and occasionally associated with preeclampsia. Clinical course and visual improvement vary, but novel treatments may aid in visual recovery. (Source: Optometry and Vision Science)

Case Series: Ocular Trauma Secondary to Masks during the COVID-19 Pandemic
CONCLUSIONS Masks can cause two types of ocular injuries that may require surgical intervention. One kind is metal nose wires or other rigid, sharp parts of masks causing lacerations or abrasions. The other is recoiling elastic mask straps snapping into the eyes and causing contusions. Our report emphasizes the importance of using masks properly. (Source: Optometry and Vision Science)

Validity and Reliability of the Student Refractive Error and Eyeglasses Questionnaire—Revised Version in Myopic Children
CONCLUSIONS The SREEQ-R had satisfactory validity and reliability evidence. Construct validity of the scale was supported to measure the impact of uncorrected and corrected refractive error on vision-related quality of life in myopic school-aged children in the United Kingdom. The SREEQ-R could be used in future studies to evaluate vision-related quality of life in children with myopia. (Source: Optometry and Vision Science)

Correction of Ocular Aberrations with Prismatic Rigid Gas-permeable Contact Lenses in Keratoconic Eyes
This study aimed to evaluate the correction of ocular aberrations with corneal prismatic RGP contact lenses in keratoconic eyes and their impact on visual function. METHODS A cross-sectional and randomized study was performed. Seventeen eyes of 17 keratoconus patients (34.6 ± 11.1 years) were evaluated. Two designs (standard and prismatic) of a corneal RGP contact lens (KAKC; Conoptica, Barcelona, Spain) were fitted to the same eye of each patient in a random order: a standard RGP contact lens as control and a prismatic RGP contact lens with a base-down prism of 1.6 prism diopters. Ocular aberrations were measured ...
