Radiation Therapy Induced Systemic Abscopal Effects Through Immune System Activation in Patients with Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma
Conclusions: Collectively, these findings suggest that radiation therapy can induce sy stemic abscopal effects through immune system activation and thus the addition of immunotherapeutic agents increases the potential to boost the systemic abscopal responses in patients with advanced cancers including RCC. Platinum-Based Chemotherapy in Locally Advanced or Metastatic Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma: Summary of Evidence and Application in Clinical Practice
Background: Different therapeutic options are available for the treatment of advanced or metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Platinum-based multi-agent chemotherapy regimens, such as FOLFIRINOX, are important elements in the multidisciplinary management of PDAC.Summary: At least one third of patients with metastatic PDAC are eligible for treatment with FOLFIRINOX. Eligibility criteria include good performance status and the absence of relevant comorbidities. However, chemotherapies can potentially be associated with serious adverse events, such as diarrhea or polyneuropathies. Here, we review relevant data ...

Recent Advances in Castleman Disease
Background: Castleman disease (CD) encompasses a spectrum of rare disorders with characteristic histopathological features. Unicentric Castleman disease (UCD) is a benign, local hyperplasia of lymphoid tissue that is usually curable. Multicentric Castleman disease (MCD) manifests as a potentially life-threatening systemic disease with complex symptomatology which is mostly due to an overproduction of interleukin-6 (IL-6) or dysregulation of IL-6-related signaling pathways. From a therapeutic perspective, it is important to distinguish idiopathic MCD (iMCD) from those cases that are associated with the human herpes virus 8 ...
