Outcomes of One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass Conversion to Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass for Severe Obesity: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
AbstractOne-anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) is an effective procedure to treat severe obesity. However, conversion to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is increasing. We therefore conducted a systematic review to determine the safety and efficacy associated with OAGB-RYGB conversion. A systematic search was conducted by three independent reviewers using Medline, Embase, and the Cochrane library following PRISMA guidelines. Six studies including 134 patients were selected who were undergoing OAGB-RYGB conversion. The most common indications were reflux (47.8%), malnutrition (31.3%), and inadequate weight loss (8.2%). Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of the Effects of Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy on Dyslipidemia
AbstractThe aim of this meta-analysis was to compare the effects of LRYGB and LSG on dyslipidemia. Studies comparing the effects of LRYGB and LSG on dyslipidemia with follow-up of 12 months or more were included. Twenty-four studies comprising seven RCTs and 17 comparative observational studies were included. Meta-analysis of RCTs (n=487) showed that improvement/resolution of dyslipidemia was better after LRYGB (68.5%,n=161/235) compared to LSG (48.4%,n=122/252). Patients undergoing LRYGB were more than twice as likely to experience improvement/resolution in dyslipidemia compared to those undergoing LSG (OR 2.28, 95% CI 1....

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery in Patients with Obesity Class V (BMI   & gt;  60 kg/m2): a Modified Delphi Study
ConclusionThis study represents the first attempt to reach consensus on the choice of procedures as well as perioperative management in patients with obesity class V. Although overall consensus was reached in different areas, more research is needed to better serve this high-risk population.Graphical Abstract (Source: Obesity Surgery)

Revisional One-Step Bariatric Surgical Techniques After Unsuccessful Laparoscopic Gastric Band: A Retrospective Cohort Study with 2-Year Follow-up
ConclusionrOAGB and rRYGB had better outcomes after LAGB than rLSG regarding WL, feasibility, food tolerance, and safety. rOAGB had significantly higher rates of nutritional deficiencies.Graphical Abstract (Source: Obesity Surgery)

Bariatric Surgery and Weight Gain: Bibliometric Analysis
ConclusionIn the study, current publications and research trends related to bariatric surgery and weight gain were analyzed through bibliometric analysis. It was concluded that weight regain after bariatric surgery should be focused on since it adversely affects the life of individuals, reduces the probability of success of surgical treatment, and imposes additional burdens on the healthcare system.Graphical Abstract (Source: Obesity Surgery)

The Effects of Preoperative Glycaemic Control (HbA1c) on Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Outcomes: Data from a Tertiary-Referral Bariatric Centre in the UK
ConclusionsWe observed no associations between pre-operative HbA1C values and the risk of peri- and post-operative complications. In the context of a specialist multidisciplinary weight management programme, optimising pre-operative HbA1C to a recommended target value prior to BMS may not translate into reduced risks of peri- and post-operative complications.Graphical Abstract (Source: Obesity Surgery)

A Randomized Controlled Trial Investigating the Impact of a Low-Calorie Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension (DASH) on Anthropometric and Glycemic Measures in Patients Experiencing Weight Regain 2 Years Post Sleeve Surgery
ConclusionIn summary, adhering to a calorie-restricted DASH diet for 16 weeks improved weight loss, body mass index, and fat mass reduction in post-bariatric patients who experienced weight regain 2 years after surgery, compared to a calorie-restricted control diet. However, there was no significant difference in the effect on blood glucose, insulin, and HOMA-IR between the two diets.Graphical Abstract (Source: Obesity Surgery)

Managing the Complication of Band Erosion in Banded Sleeve Gastrectomy: A Case Report
We present a case involving a patient with laparoscopic banded sleeve gastrectomy (BSG) with a 3-month history of persistent vomiting, decreased tolerance for fluids, and limited intake of soft food items. Upon investigation, an eroded band and gastric dilatation were identified. The treatment involved the removal of the eroded band and a segment of the stomach, followed by the restoration of gastric continuity through a gastrogastrostomy. (Source: Obesity Surgery)

One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass as Revisional Surgery Following Sleeve Gastrectomy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionsOur meta-analysis demonstrated OAGB as an effective conversional procedure after primary SG in terms of weight loss and obesity-associated medical problems for selected patients. Despite the promising results, further randomized controlled studies with larger sample sizes and more extended follow-up periods are necessary to determine if the OAGB is the best conversional surgery after SG.Graphical Abstract (Source: Obesity Surgery)
