Is Phase Angle Useful in Screening for Sarcopenia in Patients with Hematologic Malignancies?
Nutr Cancer. 2023 Nov 21:1-7. doi: 10.1080/01635581.2023.2283933. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe purposes of this study were to investigate the relationship between sarcopenia and phase angle (PhA), and to examine whether PhA cutoff values can be used to identify sarcopenia in patients with hematologic malignancies. The study population comprised 108 patients with hematologic malignancies who were admitted for chemotherapy, and were undergoing rehabilitation for exercise therapy. The diagnostic criteria for sarcopenia were determined according to the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019. Muscle strength, endurance, a...

Dietary Diabetes Risk Reduction Score (DDRRS) and Breast Cancer Risk: A Case-Control Study in Iran
CONCLUSION: The present study states that there is no significant relationship between the dietary diabetes risk reduction score and the risk of breast cancer. However, adherence to dietary diabetes risk reduction score could have a preventive role for breast cancer among postmenopausal women.PMID:37986034 | DOI:10.1080/01635581.2023.2281025 (Source: Nutrition and Cancer)

Association between the Serum Vitamin D Concentration and All-Cause and Cancer-Specific Mortality in Individuals with Cancer
Nutr Cancer. 2023 Nov 18:1-9. doi: 10.1080/01635581.2023.2279233. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe aimed to explore the association between the serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration and all-cause and cancer-specific mortality in 2,463 adult patients with cancer from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2007-2018. We linked mortality data from the survey to the National Death Index records up to December 31, 2019. During a median follow-up period of 70 months, 567 patients died, of whom 194 died due to cancer. Multivariate adjustment was performed for demographic characteristics, lifestyle, dietary factors...

Adherence to Oral Nutrition Supplementation in Gastrointestinal Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review of the Literature
Nutr Cancer. 2023 Nov 9:1-11. doi: 10.1080/01635581.2023.2277519. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe prevalence of malnutrition is high in gastrointestinal (GI) cancer patients. The use of oral nutrition supplementation (ONS) as part of patients' nutritional therapy seems to be effective in the improvement of nutritional status. Nevertheless, oncology patients, experience several symptoms that negatively affect their compliance with ONS products. Τhe aim of this systematic review is to examine the factors affecting compliance with ONS in patients who underwent GI cancer surgery and/or adjuvant treatments. A systematic sear...
