A longitudinal study of student nurse anxiety and distress during transitions in learning due to the COVID ‐19 pandemic
AbstractThis longitudinal study investigated anxiety, distress, and related symptoms experienced by undergraduate student nurses as they transitioned in March of 2020 to a virtual classroom due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in August of 2021 back to in-person learning. Qualtrics survey links were distributed at the end of the spring 2020 and fall 2021 semesters; survey response rates were 63% (n = 50) and 42% (n = 21), respectively. The 2020 cohort had a mean symptom rate of 4.32 out of 13 symptoms; the 2022 mean decreased to 2.47. Overall, symptoms decreased during the study period, but issues of anxiety and distre...

Meaningful work, pleasure in working, and the moderating effects of deep acting and COVID ‐19 on nurses' work
ConclusionPerceiving one's work as meaningful can be a job resource that protects nurses from the negative effects of emotional regulation demands and even from the stress of dealing with COVID-19.ImpactThe study addresses the problem of nurses' emotional regulation demands at work and evaluates the protective role of meaningful work. The findings could be useful for planning prevention interventions (through training in adaptive emotional regulation strategies) or protection interventions (through the promotion of effective coping strategies and the stimulation of one's work engagement). An integrative review of negative emotions of older adults in later life
ConclusionAt the center of numerous interventions, older adults are reinvigorated to understand the antecedents of negative emotions. The complex array of emotions, specifically regrets and frustration in later life, is depicted by more negativity than positivity. Such array of emotions could help develop strategies to prevent the causes of regret and frustration that nurses see when working with older adults in a clinical practice setting. The relationship between nurses' professional values and caring behaviors
ConclusionAs nurses' perceptions of professional values increase, their perception toward assessing care behaviors also increases. In addition, a relationship exists between nurses' education levels and assessment of care behaviors and between their work experience and their perceptions of professional values. Repeated assessments and predictors of nurses' shift ‐specific perceived workload
ConclusionRepeated workload assessments support the presence of elevated perceived workload among RNs which is related to weekdays and higher patient-to-nurse ratio. Future investigations would benefit from better characterization of workload particularities to address perceived burden and improve organizational and management decisions. (Source: Nursing Forum)

Decision ‐making styles of patients and general population in health care: A scoping review
ConclusionsDecision-making styles, as a dynamic process, have received little attention in health care and are rarely addressed in health communication research or investigations of decision-making support. Other frameworks that are not directly related to decision-making styles were used in most analyzed studies.Practice ImplicationsDecision-making styles in health care should be reinterpreted as a dynamic process that can be developed or changed.
