Gender-related stress factors and emotional perception in migraine: a structured online questionnaire in migraine patients and controls
ConclusionGender-related emotional and stress factors did not contribute to delineate a distinct phenotype in migraine men and women. The possible impact of emotional and stress factors characterizing genders could be considered for a single case –tailored therapeutic approach. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Use, experience and perspectives of high-density EEG among Italian epilepsy centers: a national survey
ConclusionsIn Italy, hdEEG is mainly used in third-level epilepsy centers for research and clinical purposes. HdEEG diffusion is limited not only by costs but also by lack of trained personnel. Italian centers demonstrated a high interest in educational initiatives on hdEEG as well as in clinical and research collaborations. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Evaluation of the risk of hypertension in patients treated with anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies in a real-life study
ConclusionThe risk of developing hypertension during a treatment with anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide monoclonal antibodies seems low. Anyway, patients with a pre-existing hypertension should be cautiously monitored because they are more likely to develop hypertension. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel infusion (LCIG) in Parkinson disease with genetic mutations
ConclusionsOverall, we observed a significant benefit in terms of motor complications in our cohort, including patients carrying genetic mutations/variants. Due to the small sample and limited number of patients carrying genetic mutations/variants, no definitive conclusions can be drawn yet on the genotype impact on LCIG outcome. A careful selection of patients, regardless of the genetic background, is pivotal for an optimal outcome of LCIG. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Effects of immediate thrombolytic treatment in imaging area on functional outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsThrombolytic treatment at IA lowers DNT and is an independent predictor of excellent outcome after AIS. Our study emphasizes the importance of immediate thrombolytic treatment at IA, soon after radiological eligibility is confirmed. Immediate treatment at IA should be a standard-of-care for AIS. Head-down tilt reduces the heart rate in postural tachycardia syndrome in acute setting: a pilot study
ConclusionsIn the acute setting, HDT is safe. HDT reduces the heart rate presumably by modulating baroreflex by enhancing preload and stroke volume, which in turn increases thoracic blood volume with a net effect of parasympathetic cardiovagal activation and/or sympathetic withdrawal. This pilot study provides a foundation to proceed with longitudinal studies exploring the long-term effect of repetitive HDT in conditions associated with preload failure such as POTS, ME/CSF, and PASC. Perspectives on Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders, the Narrative Medicine contribution to care
ConclusionLimitations in activities are prominent in the lives of people with NMOSD, along with fatigue. Family members are the weakest link in the chain and need information and support. Healthcare professionals are attentive to the helping dimension. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Predictive value of persistent antibodies at 6  months for relapse in neuronal surface antibody-associated autoimmune encephalitis
ConclusionsFor patients with persistent antibodies when immunotherapy is discontinued at 6  months, persistent antibody positivity was associated with a higher relapse rate. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Transcranial direct current stimulation for global cognition in Alzheimer ’s disease: a systemic review and meta-analysis
AbstractThis meta-analysis was to investigate the efficacy of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for general cognitive function in Alzheimer ’s disease (AD) and to investigate the potential influential factors. A systematic literature retrieval until August 2023 was performed by searching the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library. Therapeutic effects of tDCS were evaluated using standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Pooled effects of tDCS on AD patients were calculated immediately after treatment and at follow-up periods. Subgroup analyses were conducted to identi...

Association of cerebellar volume with cognitive and motor function in adults with congenital heart disease
ConclusionIn adults with CHD, cerebellar volume was largely unimpaired. Patients with more complex CHD may be vulnerable to changes in the posterior cerebellar gray matter. We found no significant contribution of cerebellar gray matter to cognitive and motor impairments. More advanced imaging techniques are necessary to clarify the contribution of the cerebellum to cognitive and motor functions. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Comparison of quantitative muscle ultrasound and whole-body muscle MRI in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy type 1 patients
ConclusionsQMUS allows quantitative evaluation of muscle echogenicity, displaying a tight correlation with muscular alterations, clinical and MRI data. Although a confirmation on larger sample is needed, our research suggests a possible future application of QMUS in diagnosis and management of muscular disorders. (Source: Neurological Sciences)
