COVID-19-associated serum and cerebrospinal fluid cytokines in post- versus para-infectious SARS-CoV-2-related Guillain –Barré syndrome
ConclusionsThe change of cytokines linked to SARS-CoV-2 in COV-GBS appears to be driven by viral infection, although it has unique characteristics in GBS as such and does not account for cases with para- or post-infectious onset. (Source: Neurological Sciences)

Lithium-induced subacute diencephalic angio endotheliopathy
AbstractA 65-years-old woman with bipolar affective disorder presented to our ED with a severe lithium intoxication and the recent onset of confusion, clumsiness, and tremors. Symptoms worsened to stupor and anarthria immediately after hospital admission. Gadolinium-enhanced brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed signal hyperintensity involving both thalami in T2weighted (T2w)/Fluid Attenuated Inversion Recovery sequences (right  >  left), restricted areas of proton diffusivity at the level of both occipital lobes and a sharp contrast enhancement of thalami, rhombencephalon, and of leptomeninges from either t...

Eculizumab for a catastrophic relapse in NMOSD: case report
AbstractNeuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) are a group of inflammatory disorders of central nervous system characterized by immune-mediated demyelination and axonal damage, predominantly affecting spinal cord and optic nerves. This case report describes a 47-year-old woman with an aggressive form of seropositive NMOSD who had previously been treated with corticosteroids, plasma exchange, and cyclophosphamide. She experienced a life-threatening relapse that did not respond to conventional treatment, but ultimately showed a positive response to eculizumab. Furthermore, we describe the role of sNfL. Rapidly progressive multiple system atrophy in a patient carrying LRRK2 G2019S mutation
ConclusionsLRRK2 mutations are the most common cause of monogenic Parkinson ’s disease (PD) and G2019S is the most frequent variant. Our patient presented with biological, clinical, and radiological features of MSA, but genetic testing revealed a G2019SLRRK2 mutation, which has been previously reported only in one other case of pathologically proven MSA but with mild progression. In our patient, post-mortem confirmation could not be performed, but RT-QuIC and immunohistochemical findings on skin biopsy support the diagnosis of MSA. G2019S LRRK2 may be linked to an increased risk of MSA. Cases of atypical parkinsonism wit...

Marchiafava-Bignami disease(MBD) involving bilateral handknob area: neuroimages
This article reports a MBD case involving the bilateral handknob area. The involvement of the bilateral handknob area contributes to the clinical presentation of convulsions of both hands. Through this case, more clinicians realize the bilateral handknob area involvement in MBD, which is helpful for the identification and diagnosis of MBD. To our knowledge, this is the first report on MBD involving the bilateral handknob area. (Source: Neurological Sciences)
