Memory impairment induced by aluminum nanoparticles is associated with hippocampal IL-1 and IBA-1 upregulation in mice
DISCUSSION: These findings indicate that the memory impairing effect of Al-NP coincides with hippocampal inflammation. According to the proposed relationship between AD and Al toxicity, this study can increase the knowledge about the toxic effects of Al-NP and highlight the need to limit the use of this nanoparticle.PMID:38145565 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2298137 (Source: Neurological Research)

Enriched environment enhanced the astrocyte-derived BDNF and VEGF expression and alleviate white matter injuries of rats with ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: These data suggest that the enriched environment contributes to brain white matter recovery and improvement of cognitive function after stroke. The mechanism is related to astrocytes and their secretions. EE can activate astrocytes to secrete BDNF and VEGF, which may be crucial to promote white matter recovery.PMID:38145566 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2298136 (Source: Neurological Research)

Minocycline mitigates tau pathology via modulating the TLR-4/NF- кβ signalling pathway in the hippocampus of neuroinflammation rat model
CONCLUSION: This study suggests that minocycline suppresses the neuroinflammation signalling pathway and decreased phosphorylated tau protein formation induced by LPS in a dose-dependent manner. Minocycline can be used as a preventative and therapeutic drug for neuroinflammatory diseases such as AD.PMID:38122814 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2296754 (Source: Neurological Research)

Baseline serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor association with future cognition in community-dwelling older adults undergoing annual memory screening
This study further supports that mBDNF measured in the serum of older adults may reflect a protective role while proBDNF requires further investigation.PMID:38095353 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2294581 (Source: Neurological Research)

Impulsivity and attention deficit-hyperactivity symptoms among patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis: a case-control study
CONCLUSIONS: In pwRRMS, cognitive dysfunctions such as response inhibition and intervention control, which are symptoms of attention deficit and impulsivity, have been shown to reduce the overall QoL. Among the strategies to reduce the impact of RRMS disease on patients' lives, it is essential to implement programs to prevent depression and increase cognitive reserve.PMID:38088158 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2294577 (Source: Neurological Research)
