Qlif-13. describing symptom burden and functional status at diagnosis of leptomeningeal metastasis
CONCLUSIONS:While the retrospective nature of this study is a limitation, it sheds light on symptom burden and functional status of LM patients at diagnosis, exposing the need for prospective studies interested in symptom burden and quality of life in this population. (Source: Neuro-Oncology)

Qlif-11. classification of dermatologic adverse events and management strategies in patients receiving therapy with optune for high grade gliomas
OptuneTM is an FDA-approved novel delivery system which administers tumor treatment fields in the management of newly diagnosed and recurrent glioblastoma (GBM). Recommended usage is 18 hours per day, which may be limited by its only significant adverse event: medical site reaction or skin reaction. An attempt to describe these dermatologic adverse events (dAEs) was proposed by Lacouture et al in mid-2014. Unfortunately, this system was not readily adopted into clinical practice and was not included as part of the sentinel EF-14 trial. Skin reactions (dAEs) were reported as 16% for the EF-11 patients and 43% for the p...

Qlif-10. family camp: a multi-disciplinary, holistic intervention for brain tumor patients and their families
CONCLUSIONS:A multi-disciplinary program focused on patients’ families improves psycho-social stressors. Data suggest that support programs designed for entire families may be an important intervention that improves quality-of-life and perception of the "illness" experience. Sustainability of observed benefits are unknown, but serial interventions are likely important in this patient population with variable disease trajectories. (Source: Neuro-Oncology)

Qlif-09. a focus on the psychosocial needs of older brain tumor patients
CONCLUSION:These results demonstrate that some psychosocial services are of higher need and interest to older brain tumor patients than to patients under the age of 65. Future studies may look at the extent of these needs and utilize these findings to provide better targeted care and adequate support for older patients with brain tumors. (Source: Neuro-Oncology)
