Patient-related risk factors and lifestyle factors for lumbar degenerative disc disease: a systematic review
DISCUSSION: In summary, intervertebral disc degenerations and herniations represent multifactorial events whose risk factors can be partly influenced and partly not influenced. This systematic review highlights the current state of knowledge as a basis for creating patient-specific algorithms to calculate risk for the development or progression of degenerative disc changes and disc herniations.PMID:37586480 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101482 (Source: Neuro-Chirurgie)

Which surgery is better for obese patients with lumbar degenerative diseases: open TLIF or Endo-LIF? A retrospective matched case-control study
CONCLUSION: Endo-LIF is a safe and effective surgery in the treatment of obese patients. Although this procedure needs longer operation time and x-ray exposure times, it still maybe a promising option for obese patients with LDD.PMID:37562539 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101479 (Source: Neuro-Chirurgie)

Nondysraphic intramedullary spinal cord lipoma of the child: report of 3 cases
CONCLUSION: NDSCL is a rare entity which often manifests with progressive pain and neurological deficits. In our experience, partial resection with or without dural plasty and laminoplasty has been associated with satisfactory postoperative outcomes and no recurrence of symptoms. We should be attentive to the risk of postoperative spinal deformity in these young patients.PMID:37482183 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101473 (Source: Neuro-Chirurgie)

Juvenile Xanthogranuloma as a differential diagnosis for sellar and supra sellar lesions in child: case report and review of literature
Neurochirurgie. 2023 Jul 21:101472. doi: 10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101472. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTJuvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG) is a rare type of non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis. Its systemic form affects 4% of patients. Lesions in the Central Nervous System (CNS) occur in 2% of systemic cases. Sellar JXG should be one of the differential diagnoses for sellar lesions in young. This is a 15-year-old patient with nonspecific headache, progressive visual loss and magnetic resonance imaging showing sellar lesion with suprasselar extension. The patient underwent microsurgery by pterional craniotomy with partial resection ...
