Semisynthesis, anti-oomycete and anti-fungal activities of ursolic acid ester derivatives
This study suggested that the anti-oomycete and anti-fungal activities of esters synthesized by introducing acyloxy group at C-3 position of UA was more conspicuous than that of esters synthesized by introducing benzyloxy group at C-28 position. This result will pave the way for further modification of UA to develop potential new fungicides.PMID:37115170 | DOI:10.1080/14786419.2023.2207135 (Source: Natural Product Research)

The toxicological analysis of lead impurities in traditional herbal medicinal product with < em > Thymi herba < /em > ( < em > Thymus vulgaris < /em > L. and < em > Thymus zygis < /em > L.) from pharmacies in Poland: the impurity profile and comprehensive toxicological risk assessment
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Apr 28:1-6. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2207136. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTraditional herbal medicinal products (THMP) with Thymi herba (Thymus vulgaris L. and Thymus zygis L.) are very popular among the European population. The idea of our study was the toxicological analysis of lead impurities in THMP with Thymi herba obtained from Polish pharmacies. For this purpose, we prepared the impurity profiles and comprehensive toxicological risk assessment. The Pb impurity profiles show lead impurities in all samples investigated (in the range: 2.15-6.99 μg/L). The estimations of Pb impurities in the sing...

Wound healing activities of PVA-urea composites from Ormocarpum cochinchinense
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Apr 25:1-6. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2202394. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe aim of this work is to prepare ternary blended polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-urea hydrogels containing Ormocarpum cochinchinense, Cinnamomum zeylanicum and antibiotic cephalexin by freezing-thawing method in order to assess the wound healing qualities. In addition to being a synthetic polymer, PVA is a recyclable and biocompatible artificial polymer blend that has attracted a lot of interest in biological applications. The freezing-thawing process with PVA-urea blend is used to make hydrogel film. Fourier transform infrared spect...

Chemical constituents from the heterotrophic marine microalgae < em > Aurantiochytrium < /em > sp. SC145 and their antimicrobial activities
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Apr 22:1-7. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2201882. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOne new indol, N-methoxymethyltryptophol (1), one new phenolic, (2 R)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl 2-hydroxy-3-phenylpropanoate (2) and fifteen known compounds (3-17) were isolated from the methanol extract of the fermentation of marine microalgae Aurantiochytrium sp. SC145. Their structures were elucidated by 1D-, 2D-NMR spectroscopic analysis, HR-ESI-MS, quantum chemical calculation methods and by comparing their NMR data with those reported in the literature. All compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activities agains...

Two new cyclopeptides from < em > Stachys geobombycis < /em > C. Y. Wu
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Apr 22:1-8. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2201883. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTwo new cyclic peptides, named as cyclogeobomptides A (1) and B (2) were isolated from the roots of Stachys geobombycis C. Y. Wu. Compounds 1 and 2 are both made up of eight amino acids. The structures of them were established on the basis of the spectral data, including mass spectrometry, 2D NMR, and X-ray crystallography. Cyclogeobomptides A and B were proved to have obvious inhibitory activities against α-glucosidase with the IC50 values of 26.00 and 19.16 μM, respectively.PMID:37086473 | DOI:10.1080/14786419.2023.2201883 ...

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers isolated from the marine sponge < em > Lendenfeldia chondrodes < /em > collected in Mayotte
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Apr 22:1-10. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2204431. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCDK7 and FynB protein kinases have been recognized as relevant targets for cancer and brain diseases treatment due to their pivotal regulatory roles in cellular functions such as cell cycle and neural signal transduction. Several studies demonstrated that the inhibition of these proteins could be useful in altering the onset or progression of these diseases. Based on bioassay-guided approach, the extract of the marine sponge Lendenfeldia chondrodes (Thorectidae), which exhibited interesting kinase inhibitory activities, was fr...

Three new < em > α < /em > -pyrone derivatives from the soil-derived fungus < em > Penicillium herquei < /em > MA-370
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Apr 22:1-6. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2204433. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThree new α-pyrone derivatives, annularins L-N (1-3), were isolated from the EtOAc extract of Penicillium herquei MA-370, a fungus obtained from the rhizospheric soil of the mangrove plant Rhizophora mucronata. The planar structures of compounds 1-3 were determined based on comprehensive spectral interpretation of the NMR and MS data. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined by X-ray crystallographic data and that of 2 was assigned by TDDFT calculations of its ECD spectrum and cotton effects comparison with those of 1. T...
