Stemless reverse total shoulder arthroplasty: a systematic review of contemporary literature
ConclusionStemless RSA resulted in low complication and reintervention rates at the mid-term follow-up. The reported clinical and radiological outcomes showed that these prostheses have at least equivalent outcomes with their stemmed counterparts. Further studies are required to investigate the long-term longevity and performance of the stemless humeral implants.Level of evidenceLevel IV; Systematic Review (Source: Musculoskeletal Surgery)

A proposed “Radiological Evaluation Score for Bone Tumors” (REST): An objective system for assessment of a radiograph in patients with suspected bone tumor
ConclusionsThe Radiological Evaluation Score for Bone Tumors (REST) is a structured reporting and objective method for the assessment of radiographs in patients with suspected bone tumors. This method is a reliable and helpful tool for clinicians in their outdoor patient department to differentiate a radiograph of a suspected benign tumor from a malignant bone tumor. Does early and aggressive management of significant extrusion of the femoral head affect the outcome of Perthes ’ disease with the age of onset younger than 7 years?
ConclusionThe outcome of the children who had the age of onset of the disease less than 7  years was good with early and aggressive management of the extrusion. The reversal of extrusion is associated with a similar result of non-operative children in this age group.Level of evidenceIII. (Source: Musculoskeletal Surgery)

Influence of implant density and flexibility index on curve correction after scoliosis surgery
ConclusionWith an implant density over 70%, satisfactory surgical treatment can be achieved in idiopathic and neuromuscular scoliosis. No statistical significance between the high-density (88 –100%) and the low-density (73–87%) group could be verified in curve correction, ICU stay and complications. (Source: Musculoskeletal Surgery)

Staggered bilateral total knee arthroplasty during a single hospitalization: is it still an option? a systematic review
ConclusionsSingle-hospitalization staggered BTKA does not appear to be safer than the well-established simultaneous or staged procedures. Overall, the data suggest that staggered BTKA will continue to decline in utilization, as staggered BTKA does not appear to yield clinical advantage over simultaneous BTKA in a medically appropriate patient.Level of evidence IIIsystematic review (lowest level of studies included) (Source: Musculoskeletal Surgery)

Ilizarov ligamentotaxis versus volar locked plating in the management of AO type C2/C3 distal radius fractures —a prospective non-randomised comparative trial
ConclusionIlizarov ligamentotaxis is a comparable option to locked volar plating in achieving radiological restoration and clinical function in comminuted intra-articular distal radius fractures, AO types C2 and C3. Restoration of ulnar variance needs utmost care while performing Ilizarov ligamentotaxis. Ilizarov comes with the disadvantages of reduced patient preference, pin site infections, need for removal of external fixator and slightly slower return to activity.Trial registration number CTRI/2018/08/015549Level of evidence Level III, Non-randomised prospective trial (Source: Musculoskeletal Surgery)

Locked anterior glenohumeral dislocation: is it always recommendable a conservative treatment?
ConclusionThe treatment of locked anterior glenohumeral dislocation still represents a challenge in symptomatic patients. Shoulder replacement showed good results in young and older patients, with HA and RSA, respectively.Autograft from the humeral head is reliable for glenoid defect, even in ream and run procedure.Locked dislocation lasting more than one year, surgery is debatable for higher risk of a poor outcome and recurrent instability. Total knee arthroplasty in valgus knee deformity: is it still a challenge in 2021?
AbstractTotal knee arthroplasty in valgus knee deformities continues to be a challenge for a surgeon. Approximately 10% of patients who undergo total knee arthroplasty have a valgus deformity. While performing total knee arthroplasty in a severe valgus knee, one should aware with the technical aspects of surgical exposure, bone cuts of the distal femur and proximal tibia, medial and lateral ligament balancing, flexion and extension gap balancing, creating an appropriate tibiofemoral joint line, balancing the patellofemoral joint, preserving peroneal nerve function, and selection of the implant regarding constraint. Restora...

Retrospective study in clinical governance and financing system impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in the hand surgery and microsurgery HUB center
ConclusionsThe significantly less reduction recorded in urgent surgery vs the more relevant reduction in elective one showed how the hand injuries remained a major issue also during the lockdown. The data highlighted the relevant role of the organizational aspects of the surgical procedures and planning in hand trauma. Despite the financial impact of the elective surgery, the presence of a functional and skill Emergency Service and Day-Surgery Service resulted fundamental in the efficacy and efficiency of the patient management and in containment of economic damage. The telemedicine was significantly limited by liability a...
