Abstract
Parastomal hernia is not a rare event. Being by definition a complication of ostomy creation, a parastomal hernia also carries the risk of becoming symptomatic and complicated. The management of "fragile" and suspected COVID-19 surgical patients during pandemic: an Italian single-center experience.
CONCLUSIONS: On the basis of our experience awake laparotomy under LA resulted feasible, safe, painless and, in specific cases, the only viable option. For patients presenting fragile cardiovascular and respiratory, reserves and in whom general anesthesia (GA) would presumably increase morbidity and mortality we encourage LA as an alternative to GA. In the COVID-19 era, it has become part of our ICU-preserving strategy allowing us to carry out undeferrable surgeries.

Emergency surgery in the time of Coronavirus: the pandemic effect.
CONCLUSIONS: The COVID pandemic has caused major changes in daily clinical practice, especially in areas such as Emergency. This has led to a temporary reduction and changes in the flow of patients to the emergency room, with implications also for emergency surgical activities.

Surgical management protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic in an Italian non-referral center.
CONCLUSIONS: The present protocol proved to be safe and useful to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection before and after surgery for both patients and stuff. The pandemic was responsible for the reduction in number of procedures performed, anyway for the oncologic surgery a statistically significant volume reduction in comparison to 2019 was not observed.

The impact of the surgical technique on stenosis after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: a single center study on 5235 patients.

Concomitant hiatal hernia repair during bariatric surgery: does the reinforcement make the difference?
CONCLUSIONS: An aggressive search for and repair of HH during any bariatric procedure seems advisable, allowing a low HH recurrence rates. Additional measures, like mesh reinforcement of crural closure with biosynthetic, absorbable mesh, seem to improve results on long term follow-up, especially in case of larger hiatal defects. In our experience, reinforcement of even smaller defects seems advisable in obese population.
