Contrast FFR plus intracoronary injection of nitroglycerine accurately predicts FFR for coronary stenosis functional assessment.
CONCLUSIONS: Submaximal hyperemic adenosine-free indexes are an efficient alternative to adenosine for the physiological assessment of epicardial coronary disease. The most accurate index in predicting the functional significance of coronary stenosis using FFR as reference was cFFRNTG. Caring for acute coronary syndrome and other time-sensitive medical emergencies during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in Northern Italy: report from a hub centre.
CONCLUSIONS: Re-organization of a hospital in order to adopt a hub-and-spoke model resulted feasible and allowed to face acute coronary syndrome and other time-sensitive medical emergencies timely and safely. PMID: 33258565 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Role of stent oversizing in patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention. An open-labeled randomized controlled trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed that routine oversizing in patients undergoing PPCI had no benefit regarding ST-segment resolution and the final TIMI flow, as well as hard cardiac events, during the follow-up. PMID: 33258566 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Left atrial hypertension invasively measured during pulmonary vein isolation predicts atrial fibrillation recurrence.
CONCLUSIONS: Left atrial hypertension was found in 24% of patients undergoing PV isolation and was found to be significantly related to both early and late AF recurrences. PMID: 33258567 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Lipid Plaque Burden in NSTE-ACS patients with or without COPD: insights from the SCAP trial.
CONCLUSIONS: NSTE-ACS patients with UCOPD showed a higher LCBI compared to those without COPD, while SYNTAX score I was comparable between the two groups. PMID: 33258568 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

COVID-19 pandemic and elderly: is the curtain dropped for urgent pacemaker implantations?
CONCLUSIONS: In our regional referral center, we observed a routine activity in terms of urgent pacemaker implantations for the treatment of symptomatic bradyarrhythmia during the COVID-19 outbreak. PMID: 33258569 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Impact of arterial hypertension and its management strategies on cognitive function and dementia: a comprehensive umbrella review.
CONCLUSIONS: To date, the evidence on the relationship between blood pressure, cognitive decline and dementia provides somewhat heterogeneous data. Further studies are clearly needed, with explicit inclusion criteria as objective as possible, adequate follow-up and precise characterization of implemented cardiovascular and cognitive treatments. Lambl's excrescence in transcatheter aortic valve implantation: prevalence and risk of embolic events.
CONCLUSIONS: In our population the observation of LEs is not uncommon. Despite the presumed high risk of embolism, we have not observed an increase in the rate of cerebral ischemic events or other TAVI related complications in patients with LEs. Myocardial revascularization in chronic coronary syndromes: does viability matter?
This article will review the principles of myocardial viability, present the noninvasive imaging tests available to clinicians, as well as critically appraise the latest literature on myocardial viability, coronary revascularization and outcome with a final outlook at studies in the pipelines and future evidence in myocardial viability that will be soon available. Features of degenerative mitral valve prolapse in the North East of China: repair characteristics, and short-term follow-up results.
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to Western countries, in our sample of Chinese population degenerative severe MR occurred in younger patients. The MVP lesion characteristics are similar, can be accurately detected by non-invasive preoperative evaluation, allowing predictable results. Advanced tailored repair techniques allow excellent immediate and short-term results regardless of the underlying complexity. PMID: 33155784 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Robotic-assisted coronary artery bypass grafting: current knowledge and future perspectives.
Authors: Amabile A, Torregrossa G, Balkhy HH Abstract Minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass grafting (MIDCAB) and totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass grafting (TECAB) are the two existing strategies for robotic-assisted, surgical myocardial revascularization. In this review, we summarize the wide evidence available in the literature regarding the benefits of these two procedures, and detail the technical skills required to master robotic coronary surgery techniques.
