Left ventricular function evaluation of the fetal heart: reference intervals and inter-observer variability of 2D speckle-tracking echocardiography measurements
CONCLUSIONS: Speckle tracking AP4pLS and EF parameters are useful for assessment of ventricular myocardial function in healthy fetuses and can be reliably reproduced by two different skilled examiners. Further studies conducted on larger populations are required to standardize reference values of fetal speckle-tracking measurements.PMID:37369048 | DOI:10.11152/mu-4021 (Source: Medical Ultrasonography)

Comments and illustrations of the WFUMB CEUS liver guidelines: Rare vascular pathology, part II
Med Ultrason. 2023 Jun 26;25(2):189-200. doi: 10.11152/mu-4013.ABSTRACTIn this second part of the topic the hepatic pseudoaneurysm, hepatic infarction, and pylephlebitis are discussed as acute and potentially life-threatening hepatic vascular diseases. The focus is on their appearance on B-mode ultrasonography, duplex ultrasonography, and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography. Zahn's pseudo infarction is an important differential diagnosis to wedge-shaped hepatic infarction in this context. Knowledge of the data should help raise awareness of these rare findings, to come up with relevant differential diagnoses in the correspon...

Ultrasound description and follow up of painful cervical interspinous bursitis in a Polymyalgia Rheumatica patient - a case report
We present a Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) case with active Cervical Interspinous Bursitis (CIB) causing debilitat-ing neck pain as the most intensive symptom of the disease as reported by the patient. CIB was diagnosed and followed by Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSUS). MSUS examination of patient's posterior cervical region reviled well demarcated an-/ hypoechoic lesions around and cranially of the spinous processes of the sixth and seventh cervical vertebra. The initial detailed sonographic characteristics of the CIB are described, as well as the evolution of lesions size and extent with the treatment and patient's clinic...

Comments and illustrations of the WFUMB CEUS liver guidelines: Rare focal liver lesions - non-infectious, non-neoplastic
Med Ultrason. 2023 Jun 13. doi: 10.11152/mu-4192. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn this series of papers on comments and illustrations of the World Federation for Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) guidelines on contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) the topics of non-infectious and non-neoplastic focal liver lesions (FLL) are discussed. Improved detection and characterization of common FLL are the main topics of these guidelines but detailed and illustrating information is missing. The focus in this paper is on non-infectious and non-neoplastic FLL and their appearance on B-mode, Doppler ultrasound and CEUS features. Knowledge of ...

Sono-palpation and sono-Tinel in musculoskeletal ultrasound examination: use all "sono-senses". A systematic review
Med Ultrason. 2023 Jun 10. doi: 10.11152/mu-4060. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFlexibility and dynamic perspective of ultrasound imaging allow for a targeted/focused examination, yielding extra find-ings. Sonopalpation - also referred as sono-Tinel for nerves - is one of those particular features of ultrasound examination whereby the ultrasound probe is actively 'manipulated'. It is paramount to ascertain the painful structure/pathology during the evaluation of a patient and it is not possible with other imaging techniques other than ultrasonography. In this aspect, the cur-rent review aims to provide an analysis of the l...

Evaluation of the efficacy of gastric lymphoma treated with non-surgical therapy using oral and double contrast-enhanced gastric ultrasonography
CONCLUSIONS: Transabdominal OCEUS and CT are comparable in the assessment of gastric lymphoma treatment ecacy. DCEUS is a noninvasive, cost-effective, and widely available method for gastric lymphoma therapeutic effect evaluation. Therefore, transabdominal OCEUS and DCEUS have the potential to be used for the early assessment of the ecacy of the non-surgical treatment of gastric lymphoma.PMID:37369032 | DOI:10.11152/mu-4007 (Source: Medical Ultrasonography)
