Prosthodontic Rehabilitation's Role in Alleviating Anxiety and Depression in Mucormycosis-Induced Maxillectomy Patients Post-COVID-19
CONCLUSIONS Comprehensive rehabilitation that included a diagnosis of psychological symptoms followed by psychotherapeutic/pharmacotherapeutic/prosthodontic intervention reduced the anxiety/depression symptom levels to normal at 1 year.PMID:37997301 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.941488 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)

Comparative Analysis of Super-Mini Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy Combined with Flexible Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy versus Flexible Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy Alone for Treating Complex Kidney Stones: A Retrospective Study of 205 Patients
CONCLUSIONS In the treatment of complex renal stones, compared with FURL, SMP combined with FURL in the oblique supine lithotomy position has the advantages of a higher early SFR with no increased risk of complications.PMID:37994010 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.941012 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)

Prevalence and Risk Factors for Modic Changes in Symptomatic Cervical Ossification of the Posterior Longitudinal Ligament: A Retrospective Study of 203 Patients
CONCLUSIONS The results of this study found that older age and neck pain were significantly associated with development of cervical spine MC. Patients ≥60.5 years with symptomatic cervical OPLL had a higher probability of developing MC.PMID:37990489 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.941674 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)

Circadian Rhythms in Cardiovascular Function: Implications for Cardiac Diseases and Therapeutic Opportunities
The objective of this review is to unravel the relationship between circadian rhythms and cardiovascular health. By understanding this intricate interplay, we aim to reveal the potential risks of circadian disruption and discuss the emerging therapeutic strategies, specifically those targeting circadian rhythms. In this review, we explore the important role of circadian rhythms in cardiovascular physiology and highlight the role they play in cardiac dysfunction such as ventricular hypertrophy, arrhythmia, diabetes, and myocardial infarction. Finally, we review potential translational treatments aimed at circadian rhythms. ...

Trends in Hospitalization Duration for Rare Diseases: A Retrospective Analysis of Sarcoidosis, Still's Disease, and Systemic Sclerosis in Poland (2009-2018)
CONCLUSIONS The study showed that hospitalizations for selected rare diseases do not cause a significant burden on the healthcare system. The results also showed that advanced age and comorbidities are important factors determining the length of hospitalization. The average length of hospital stay for selected rare diseases in Poland is not longer than the European Union (EU) average, so it can be assumed that the process of inpatient treatment in Poland is optimal.PMID:37981760 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.941536 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)

Enhanced Proliferation and Adhesion Marker Gene Expression in Fibroblast Cells: Evaluating the Efficacy of a Non-Surgical Treatment for Urogenital Fistula
CONCLUSIONS The mucoadhesive bilayer membrane complex with arginine+glutamine gave rise to the highest expression of the LOX and JAMs genes, indicating that the highest proliferation and cell adhesion were found in cells inoculated with the mucoadhesive bilayer membrane complex with arginine+glutamine.PMID:37978796 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.941641 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)
