Prognostic Factors for Uterine Sarcoma and Carcinosarcoma: Insights from a 10-Year Follow-Up Study
CONCLUSIONS A 10-year follow-up of patients with uterine sarcoma indicates that age above 60 years at diagnosis and high p53 expression and elevated CA125 levels before treatment can be independent prognostic factors. The high diagnostic sensitivity of sTNF RI and VEGF suggests the possibility of using these biomarkers in the early diagnosis of uterine sarcomas.PMID:38058118 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.941562 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)

Impact of Long-Term Blood Pressure Variability on Survival Rate in Elderly Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A 46-Month Follow-Up Study of 245 Patients
CONCLUSIONS Increased long-term SBPV in MHD patients is associated with a decrease in long-term survival rate, and patients ≥75 years are more susceptible to it.PMID:38042985 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.940621 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)

Unveiling the Research Landscape and Emerging Trends in Cell Cycle for Cancer Immunotherapy: A Bibliometric Analysis (1990-2022)
CONCLUSIONS This study revealed field profiles, research hotspots, and future directions of cell cycle dysregulation-related immunology, and the findings will offer a vigorous roadmap for further studies in the combination therapy of cell cycle inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors for treating various cancers. Our results can shed more light on relevant research in this field.PMID:38037303 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.940556 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)

Editorial: Outbreaks of Post-Pandemic Childhood Pneumonia and the Re-Emergence of Endemic Respiratory Infections
Med Sci Monit. 2023 Dec 1;29:e943312. doi: 10.12659/MSM.943312.ABSTRACTIn October and November 2023, hospitals in the major cities of Beijing and Liaoning in northern China reported a surge in cases of pneumonia in children, with some hospitals being overwhelmed by pediatric emergency admissions. Similar outbreaks of childhood pneumonia had been reported in the autumn of 2022 in Europe and North America. Therefore, increased reports of childhood pneumonia could be driven by post-pandemic changes in the pathogenesis of endemic respiratory infections other than COVID-19, including Mycoplasma pneumoniae, respiratory syncytial...

The Impact of Head Elevation on Prevalence and Severity of Emergence Cough in Male Patients during Endotracheal Extubation
CONCLUSIONS Head elevation using a pillow effectively reduced the severity of cough before endotracheal extubation during anesthesia emergence in male patients. However, it did not significantly reduce the incidence of cough. These findings highlight the potential benefits of head elevation in minimizing the discomfort associated with emergence cough.PMID:38031390 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.942597 (Source: Medical Science Monitor)
