Possible rabbit breeders' Trichophyton mentagrophytes infection characterized by Majocchi's granuloma in immunocompetent host: Case report
We report on a family of three in a rabbit farm, especially children with Majocchi granuloma as the main clinical feature of cross-infection of Trichophyton mentagrophytes, provides experience in reducing the rate of clinical misdiagnosis. Based on the pathological features of Majocchi's granuloma, taking into account that severe inflammatory reactions are also responsible for the damage of the body. In Majocchi's granuloma treatment strategy, we recommend the use of anti-inflammatory Chinese medicines that have a hormonal effect and have no side effects. (Source: Medical Mycology Case Reports)

Point mutations in the squalene epoxidase gene of Indian ITS genotype VIII T. mentagrophytes identified after DNA isolation from infected scales
Publication date: Available online 18 September 2019Source: Medical Mycology Case ReportsAuthor(s): Anke Burmester, Uta-Christina Hipler, Reka Hensche, Peter Elsner, Cornelia WiegandAbstractTerbinafine resistant Indian ITS genotype VIII T. mentagrophytes strain was identified by partial sequencing of the squalene epoxidase gene using DNA isolated from infected scales. This method allowed the rapid identification of single point mutations within the squalene epoxidase gene, even before a fungal culture was obtained. Terbinafine resistance was indicated by the amino acid position switch Phe397Leu based on a single point muta...

Disseminated histoplasmosis in immunocompetent patients from an arid zone in Western India: A case series
We report two cases of disseminated histoplasmosis in immunocompetent individuals from a non-endemic zone in Western India. Rapid diagnostic tests like urinary antigen detection and molecular assays comprise the need of the hour as early initiation of antifungal therapy can be life-saving. Clinicians need to be aware of this entity to prevent misdiagnosis and initiate prompt effective management. (Source: Medical Mycology Case Reports)

A rare case of Myrothecium species causing mycotic keratitis: Diagnosis and management
We report two cases of keratitis caused by a rare fungus Myrothecium species. Clinical presentation, identification, and management were studied. Both fungi were grown from corneal scraping and identified as M. verrucaria and M. gramineum based on the microbiological techniques and DNA sequencing analysis. Both patients were treated with topical natamycin and or voriconazole/econazole. In the first patient, there was total healing of the with scar formation, however, the prognosis was poor in the second patient. (Source: Medical Mycology Case Reports)

Disseminated cerebral aspergillosis complicated by thrombotic microangiopathy
We report a case of disseminated cerebral IA in a patient exposed to cyclophosphamide, rituximab and prednisone. This case is unique because: 1) disseminated IA has not been described in anti-glomerular basement membrane glomerulonephritis; 2) IA led to thrombotic microangiopathy with normal ADAMTS13 and 3) voriconazole toxicity necessitated use of isavuconazole for IA treatment.
