Does one size fit all? The usefulness of menopause education across low and middle income countries
Approximately six million women, globally, will become menopausal annually, with 76% of these living in developing countries. Western studies show that the menopause transition is associated with an increased risk of cardiometabolic disease (CMD), cognitive decline and related risk factors. Longitudinal research found CMD risk factors are increasing, leading to the majority of deaths worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Data show that CMDs are associated with cognitive decline and subsequent dementia. (Source: Maturitas)

The relationship between cortisol and sleep architecture in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women
Objectives: Women report worse sleep quality during and after the menopausal transition than in premenopause, but null or minimal alterations in sleep architecture have been found. Concentrations of cortisol seem to increase temporally during perimenopause. However, the associations between cortisol and sleep architecture in women around the menopausal transition have not been examined in detail to date. (Source: Maturitas)

Applying the Health Action Process Approach to lifestyle changes in women at postmenopause: the case of an exercise program for health promotion
Low physical activity is known to be a potential risk factor for poor quality of life and chronic diseases after menopause. To increase regular moderate-to-vigorous exercise in postmenopausal women, a supervised exercise program was implemented within a health promotion intervention for modifying lifestyle in early postmenopause. Besides, an intervention for facilitating health-behavior change based on the tenets of the Health Action Process Approach model was also implemented to promote intention and active behavior change. Study protocol to assess the quality of life after preventive bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy in BRCA1/2 and PALB2 mutation carriers
Introduction: Pathogenic variants in BRCA1, BRCA2 and PALB2 genes are associated with a high lifetime breast cancer (BC) and a high or moderate ovarian cancer (OC) risk, respectively. Preventive bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (PBSO) is a mortality reducing strategy recommended to healthy carriers at the age of 35 –40 or after completion of childbearing. The main reason for delaying surgery is women´s fear of the impact of premature menopause on quality of life and long-term health risks. (Source: Maturitas)

Sexual function scores are associated with the severity of vasomotor symptoms, age and sense of coherence in postmenopausal women.
Introduction: Sexual function after menopause is affected by psychological, cultural, interpersonal, and environmental factors. The sense of coherence reflects a person's ability to cope with stressors and may influence both the sexual experience and menopausal symptoms. We aimed to evaluate the link between sexual function the severity of climacteric symptoms, and the sense of coherence in postmenopausal women. (Source: Maturitas)

Neuroendocrinology of menopause: the symptoms, the risks and the management
The transition into menopause has long been related to the development of climacteric symptoms, with hot flashes and night sweats being the most commonly reported. Evidence retrieved from rat studies has highlighted the role of hypothalamic neurons expressing neurokinin B, kisspeptin, and dynorphin (KNDy neurons), in the origin of vasomotor symptoms. Kisspeptin represents a group of potent neuropeptides known to regulate the human reproductive system. The KNDy neurons are projected to the heat dissipation neurons and the gonadotropin-releasing hormone neurons. (Source: Maturitas)

Sexual dysfunction is associated with arterial stiffness in postmenopausal women
Introduction: Apart from menopause, sexual distress at midlife and beyond might be related to chronic conditions. We aimed to assess the possible link between non-invasive indices of early vascular dysfunction and the results of a sexual function questionnaire in apparently healthy postmenopausal women. High-normal thyroid stimulating hormone levels, are associated with higher handgrip strength in healthy postmenopausal women
Introduction: Ageing affects the function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid axis. A growing amount of data suggests an association between thyroid function and handgrip strength (HGS) in the aging population. We evaluated the association between thyroid function, body composition parameters and HGS in a sample of euthyroid postmenopausal women. (Source: Maturitas)
