Enrolment of the first paediatric cohort into the Australian lupus registry and biobank: A single-centre experience
CONCLUSION: We have established our centre as the first paediatric participating site of the ALRB, providing contemporary data on the clinical characteristics, serological profile and health-related quality of life outcomes of Australian children with SLE. Paediatric involvement with this national registry will provide a unique perspective for future clinical and scientific research. Collection of Australian-specific paediatric longitudinal data will also enable a broader understanding of SLE within a multicultural Australian population.PMID:38587355 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241244879 (Source: Lupus)

Lack of awareness of systemic lupus erythematosus and its consequences in a cohort of moderate and severe patients in Spain: The LupusVoice study
CONCLUSION: This study highlights the need to increase SLE awareness among patients, HCPs, and the broader public in order to improve patient QoL. Being aware of the clinical and emotional impact of such lack of awareness, as well as the role played by context on the patient experience of SLE, is a crucial step towards achieving this goal.PMID:38577967 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241242886 (Source: Lupus)

Drug-induced lupus erythematosus in childhood: Case-based review
CONCLUSION: For children presenting with SLE features, proper drug history is crucial since DILE may be more frequent than anticipated. An association of the relevant drug with the symptoms, and resolution of symptoms on drug withdrawal provides evidence for the diagnosis of DILE.PMID:38580326 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241245078 (Source: Lupus)

Home monitoring of fetal heart rhythm: Lived experiences of women with anti-SSA/Ro52 autoantibodies and their co-parents
CONCLUSION: Both the mother and the co-parent expressed confidence in their own abilities and that the monitoring provided them with the advantage of growing a bond with the expected child. However, all the participants described a feeling of underlying tension during the risk period. The results show that home monitoring is not experienced as complicated or a burden for the parents-to-be and should be considered a vital part of the chain of care for mothers at risk for giving birth to a child with CHB. However, explaining the teamwork between the different caregivers, for the patients involved, their areas of expertise, a...

Results and prognosis of kidney transplantation in lupus nephritis: Experience of an Argentine center
CONCLUSION: Patients transplanted for LN did not differ from the control population in terms of graft and patient survival. Infections were the main cause of death, so prophylaxis and vaccination continue to be a fundamental pillar in the prevention of infections in immunocompromised patients.PMID:38569651 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241244508 (Source: Lupus)

Membranous lupus nephritis secondary to secukinumab therapy: A case report and literature review
We report the case of a 57-year-old man who developed membranous lupus nephritis after secukinumab treatment for psoriasis. Anti-SSA and PM-Scl antibodies were positive. dsDNA, anti-Smith, and anti-histone antibodies were negative, and serum complement was low. Secukinumab was discontinued, while tacrolimus was initiated, subsequently switched to cyclosporin, belimumab, glucocorticosteroid, and hydroxychloroquine with a good response. The relationship between lupus erythematosus and IL-17 inhibition requires further research.PMID:38569663 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241242698 (Source: Lupus)

This study aimed to explore the characteristics and prognosis of SLE patients with LSE and the impact of LSE in patients with SLE on inpatient outcomes including inpatient mortality, length of stay, acute heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and cerebrovascular accidents (CVA).METHODS: This study included adult patients who were hospitalized with SLE between the years 2019 and 2020, using the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database. The total number of patients with a diagnosis of SLE in the years 2019 and 2020 in the NIS database was 150,411. Of those, 349 had a diagnosis of LSE. The study population was divided into two ...

Factors associated with non-adherence to medications in systemic lupus erythematosus: Results from a Swedish survey
CONCLUSIONS: Beliefs about medications were a major determinant of medication non-adherence. Patient education may help alleviate the negative impact of misinformation/unawareness on adherence.PMID:38545763 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241242692 (Source: Lupus)
