Prognostic Significance of Fc Receptor-like 1 in Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, Hairy Cell Leukemia, and Various B-cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
This study examined the expression pattern of FCRL1 in B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients using real-time PCR and flow cytometry. The results revealed higher levels of FCRL1 expression in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, hairy cell leukemia, and Burkitt lymphoma patients compared with control groups. There was a significant reduction in the levels of FCRL1 expression in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and mantle cell lymphoma patients compared with healthy individuals. Lenalidomide induced durable remission in a patient with MDS/MPN-with ring sideroblasts and thrombocytosis with associated 5q- syndrome.
We describe a patient with MDS/MPN with ring sideroblasts and thrombocytosis who had deletions of long arm of chromosome 5 (5q-) and chromosome 20 (20q-). Molecular studies showed an exon 9, frame shift mutation in the calreticulin (CALR) gene, and absence of mutations in JAK2, MPL, SETBP1 or SF3B1.Treatment with lenalidomide resulted in durable clinical remission which has lasted 2 years.
