Cryoablation for the treatment of breast cancer: immunological implications and future perspectives.  Utopia or reality?
AbstractCryoablation is a minimally invasive technique currently employed in breast cancer care, that uses freeze and thaw cycles to treat benign breast lesions, small breast cancers or focal sites of metastatic disease in patients not eligible for surgery. The final goal of this procedure is to destroy breast cancer cells using extreme cold. In addition, several studies have shown that this technique seems to have an enhancing effect on the immune response, especially by increasing the expression of tumor neoantigens specific to tumor cells, which are then attacked and destroyed. Exploiting this effect, cryoablation in co...

Factors associated with cavity formation after stereotactic body radiation therapy for peripheral early-stage lung cancer
ConclusionAlthough cavity formation after SBRT for peripheral early-stage lung cancer is infrequent, it can occur. This study showed high DLco and total radiation dose to be factors significantly associated with cavity formation. These findings can be applied to optimizing radiation therapy (RT) and improving patient outcomes. Further research is needed to determine the optimal radiation dose for patients with near-normal DLco for whom surgery is an option. This study provides valuable insights into image changes after RT. Post-operative KEloids iRradiation (POKER): does the surgery/high-dose interventional radiotherapy association make a winning hand?
ConclusionsThe findings support the use of surgery and POIRT as an effective strategy for controlling keloid relapses. Further studies should focus on determining the optimal Biologically Effective Dose and on establishing a scoring system for patient selection. (Source: La Radiologia Medica)

Computer-aided diagnosis of distal metastasis in non-small cell lung cancer by low-dose CT based radiomics and deep learning signatures
ConclusionsOur study demonstrates the potential of LDCT-based radiomics and DL signatures for predicting DM in NSCLC. These signatures could help improve lung cancer screening regarding further diagnostic tests and treatment strategies. (Source: La Radiologia Medica)
