Expression of Wilms ’ Tumor 1 Antigen, Vimentin, and Corticotropin-Releasing Factor in the Human Kidney with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis and Effect of Oxidative Stress on These Markers in HEK 293 Cells
Discussion: Our observations on kidney biopsy samples support that the reduction of WT1 and vimentin could be characteristic for FSGS. Our results on HEK cells suggest that meta- and ortho-Tyr may play a role in the development of FSGS. (Source: Kidney and Blood Pressure Research)

Therapeutic Plasmapheresis: A Revision of Literature
Background: Therapeutic plasmapheresis (TP) is an extracorporeal therapy that allows the removal of pathogens from plasma. The role of TP in immuno-mediated diseases and toxic conditions has been of interest for decades.Summary: We reviewed the recent literature on the application and the optimal choice of TP technique ranging from plasma exchange, double filtration plasmapheresis, rheopheresis, immunoadsorptions, plasma adsorption perfusion and lipidoapheresis. In addition, we report our experience in the application of TP for various diseases ranging in different medical specialties, following the American Society for Ap...

Severe hypophosphatemia as the initial presentation of renal Fanconi ’s syndrome and distal renal tubular acidosis related to zoledronic acid: A case report and literature review
Conclusion: Progressive electrolyte disorders and CKD were the long-term renal outcome of the current patient. We would like to arouse more attention to electrolytes imbalance related to early ZA-induced kid ney injury and emphasize the significance of close monitoring. Development and validation of a cardiovascular disease risk prediction model for patients with non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney diseases  based on the nomogram
This study enrolled 1138 participants with non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease (NDD-CKD). Following a proportion of 7:3, patients were randomly assigned to training and validation cohorts. The relevant predictors of cardiovascular events were screened using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso) regression. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and the calibration curve with 1000 bootstraps resamples were used to assess the nomogram's performance. Tests on the discrimination of the prediction model used Kaplan-Meier (KM) curve. Results After screening all the pred...

Association between plasma xanthine oxidoreductase activity and the renal function in a general Japanese population: The Tohoku Medical Megabank community-based cohort study
This study investigated the association between XOR and renal function in a general Japanese population. Methods: The Iwate Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization pooled individual participant data from a community-based cohort study in Iwate prefecture. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) was estimated using the estimated glomerular filtration rate of cystatin C (eGFRcys). Individuals with a history of hyperuricemia or severe renal dysfunction (eGFRcys (Source: Kidney and Blood Pressure Research)
