Effectiveness and Cost of Stenting in Ureteral Injury in Colorectal Surgeries in the US: 2015 - 2019
CONCLUSIONS: While effective in limited settings, the IUI reduction attributed to stenting and ability to shift IUI detection to the intraoperative setting could not offset the hospital cost of stent placement during colectomy (and colorectal surgery, in general). There thus remains an ongoing need in colorectal surgery for a universal, cost-effective solution to prevent IUI.PMID:37829173 | PMC:PMC10566578 | DOI:10.4293/JSLS.2023.00023 (Source: JSLS : Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons)

Bariatric Surgery in the Elderly Population: A Multi-surgeon, Single-institution Retrospective Review
CONCLUSIONS: Elderly patients undergoing MBS were noted to have %EWL similar to previous reports in elderly and general populations. MBS is efficacious and well tolerated in the elderly population with repeatable results. Continued reporting on the safety and efficacy is important in ensuring wider coverage and availability of these important interventions in elderly populations.PMID:37829174 | PMC:PMC10566579 | DOI:10.4293/JSLS.2023.00028 (Source: JSLS : Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons)
