Association between dextrose-containing maintenance fluids and phosphorus supplementation during total parenteral nutrition initiation in hospitalized adult patients: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: This study did not detect a difference in phosphorus supplementation between groups, even after controlling for malnourished patients. This article is protected by copyright. Absorption of an Engineered Medium Chain Fatty Acid Analogue in Two Short Bowel Syndrome Minipig Models
CONCLUSION: In two SBS-IF minipig models, SEFA-6179 had substantially decreased absorption compared to pre-resection minipigs. Dose optimization for different intestinal anatomy and function may be required. We describe a new SBS-IF pseudojejunostomy model that may improve the translation of preclinical research to SBS-IF patients with enterostomies. This article is protected by copyright. Predicting body fat percentage at 36 weeks of postmenstrual age in infants born preterm
CONCLUSIONS: Weight gain and increase in length per week from birth to 36 weeks PMA, mid-arm circumference at 36 weeks PMA, male sex, and enteral fluid intake are significant predictors of body fat percentage at 36 weeks PMA in very preterm infants. Assessment of refeeding syndrome definitions and 30-day mortality in critically ill adults: A comparison study
CONCLUSION: Eight definitions for RFS were evaluated, none of which showed strong associations with death or ICU-free days. It may be challenging to achieve a standardized definition for RFS that is based upon electrolyte values and predicts mortality or ICU-free days. This article is protected by copyright.
