Computed tomography (CT) scan showed bilateral airspace opacities with a mild tree-in-bud nodularity in the left lower lobe. Ultrasonography of the lower extremities revealed a deep venous thrombus (DVT) in the right deep veins. Blood cultures grew Fusobacterium necrophorum. CT and magnetic resonance imaging showed right hip jo...

Engaging the community on colorectal cancer screening: Additional factors identified by African Americans as potential barriers during focus groups
CONCLUSIONS: Focus group discussion identified multiple barriers for colorectal cancer screening. Notably, differences in the perceptions of African-American community members and non-African-American health care learners about racial disparity in health care, physician respect toward patients and insufficient physician discussion were revealed. The integration of bi-directional focus group learning can be considered as a potential strategy to assist in the development of focused screening interventions.PMID:37852880 | DOI:10.1016/j.jnma.2023.09.010 (Source: Journal of the National Medical Association)

Stigma of sickle cell disease among Indian tribal population: A multi-centric qualitative study
CONCLUSION: Our study highlights the importance of addressing stigma at various levels. Policies, programs, and healthcare interventions must target stigma across these levels. Culturally adaptive tools for identifying stigma, implementing appropriate interventions, and improving healthcare participation are essential for enhancing the quality of life and reducing the disease burden.PMID:37845145 | DOI:10.1016/j.jnma.2023.09.006 (Source: Journal of the National Medical Association)
