The development of a conceptual framework on PrEP stigma among adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa
CONCLUSIONS: Our PrEP stigma conceptual framework highlights potential intervention targets at multiple levels in the stigmatization process. Its adoption would enable researchers to develop standardized measures and compare stigma across timepoints and populations as well as design and evaluate interventions.PMID:38379129 | PMC:PMC10879468 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26213 (Source: Journal of the International AIDS Society)

My Way: development and preliminary evaluation of a novel delivery system for PrEP and other sexual health needs of young women in Western Kenya
CONCLUSIONS: My Way is a promising delivery system for PrEP and other sexual health services among young women in Western Kenya. We found high feasibility and acceptability. PrEP use was modest, but higher with My Way compared to SoC. Long-acting PrEP formulations may overcome important barriers to PrEP use and should be explored in combination with the My Way delivery model.PMID:38379132 | PMC:PMC10879470 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26217 (Source: Journal of the International AIDS Society)

Integrating methadone into primary care settings in Ukraine: effects on provider stigma and knowledge
CONCLUSIONS: Integrating OAT services within primary settings was associated with significantly reduced stigma constructs and improved attitudes towards PWID, possibly through increased intergroup contact between PWID and general clinical staff. Unlike most stigma reduction interventions, re-engineering clinical processes so that PWID receive their care in PCCs emerges as a multilevel stigma reduction intervention through the integration of specialized services in PCCs. Integration influences different types of stigma, and has positive effects not only on health outcomes, but also improves clinician attitudes and efficient...

Knowledge of HIV transmission, prevention strategies and U  = U among adult sexual and gender minorities in Brazil
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings show that HIV knowledge and perceived accuracy of U = U are strongly correlated, that knowledge differs according to HIV status, and that poor socio-economic is linked to poor knowledge among SGM from Brazil. Educational strategies regarding TasP, U = U and zero risk targeting socio-economically vulnerable populations are urgent in Brazil.PMID:38379186 | PMC:PMC10879640 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26220 (Source: Journal of the International AIDS Society)

Healthcare provisions associated with multiple HIV-related outcomes among adolescent girls and young women living with HIV in South Africa: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Accessible and adolescent-responsive healthcare is critical to improving HIV-related outcomes, reducing morbidity, mortality and onward HIV transmission among AGYW. Combining these provisions can maximize benefits, especially for AGYW mothers.PMID:38332518 | PMC:PMC10853575 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26212 (Source: Journal of the International AIDS Society)

Temporal dynamics and drivers of durable HIV viral load suppression and persistent high- and low-level viraemia during Universal Test and Treat scale-up in Uganda: a population-based study
CONCLUSIONS: Following universal ART provision, most persons living with HIV in south-central Uganda are durably suppressed. Among persons exhibiting any viraemia, nearly half exhibited high-level viraemia for ≥12 months and reported higher-risk behaviours associated with onward HIV transmission. Intensified efforts linking individuals to HIV treatment services could accelerate momentum towards HIV epidemic control.PMID:38332519 | PMC:PMC10853573 | DOI:10.1002/jia2.26200 (Source: Journal of the International AIDS Society)

HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis programme preferences among sexually active HIV-negative transgender and gender diverse adults in the United States: a conjoint analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Participants preferred programmes that offered PrEP services without cost-sharing and bundled with gender-affirming hormone therapy services. Bolstering federal regulations to cover PrEP services and prioritizing programmes to expand low-barrier PrEP provision are critical to achieving equitable PrEP provision. Community-engaged implementation research conducted by and in close collaboration with trans community stakeholders and researchers are needed to streamline the design of patient-centred PrEP programmes and develop implementation strategies that are salient to the diverse sexual health needs of trans pa...
