Combined Assessment of Fractional Flow Reserve and Coronary Flow Velocity Reserve after Drug-eluting Stent Implantation
Coronary flow velocity reserve (CFVR) can be obtained noninvasively using stress transthoracic Doppler echocardiography (S-TDE). Prognostic significance of S-TDE-derived CFVR after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remains unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of post-PCI CFVR and its additional efficacy to fractional flow reserve (FFR) in patients undergoing elective PCI. Modeling the relationship between diastolic phenotype and outcomes in pediatric hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Pediatric hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is associated with adverse events. The contribution of diastolic dysfunction to adverse events is poorly understood. We explored the association between diastolic phenotype and outcomes in pediatric patients with HCM. (Source: Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography)

Multiple Phenotypes of Chronic Coronary Syndromes Identified by ABCDE Stress Echocardiography
Regional wall motion abnormality (RWMA) is considered a sensitive and specific marker of ischemia during stress echocardiography (SE). However, ischemia is a multifaceted entity associated with either coronary artery disease (CAD) or angina with normal coronary arteries (ANOCA), a distinction difficult to make using a single sign.We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic potential of the ABCDE-SE protocol for CAD detection. Characterization of Tricuspid Valve Anatomy and Coaptation Gap in Subjects Receiving Tricuspid Transcatheter Edge-to-edge Repair: Observations from the bRIGHT TriClip ™ Study
Tricuspid edge-to-edge repair (TEER) for the treatment of tricuspid regurgitation (TR) has experienced fast adoption following commercial approval. Defining the appropriate target population for TEER therapy is important to guide patient selection. The aim of this study was to characterize tricuspid valve anatomy and coaptation gap in subjects receiving TEER for the treatment of TR in a contemporary post-market setting. Adaptation of left ventricular twist mechanics in exercise-trained children is only evident after the adolescent growth spurt
The extent of structural cardiac remodelling in response to endurance training is maturity dependent. In adults, this structural adaptation is often associated with the adaptation of left ventricular (LV) twist mechanics. For example, an increase in LV twist often follows an expansion in end-diastolic volume, whereas a reduction in twist may follow a thickening of the LV walls. Whilst structural cardiac remodelling has been shown to be more prominent post-peak height velocity (PHV), it remains to be determined how this maturation-dependent structural remodelling influences LV twist. Multimodality Imaging for Cardiac Surveillance of Cancer Treatment in Children: Recommendations From the American Society of Echocardiography
Guidelines for using noninvasive imaging techniques to monitor cardiac function in adults undergoing cancer treatment are available.1,2 Children with cancer, however, require a different imaging approach. Screening and detection strategies in younger children have largely relied on longitudinal monitoring of echocardiographic measures of left ventricle (LV) systolic function, mainly fractional shortening (FS) and ejection fraction (EF). Despite the important role of echocardiography in the follow-up of this patient group, a recent multicenter study indicated that the overall quality of routine pediatric echocardiograms for...

The American Society of Echocardiography Foundation (ASEF): Foundation for the Future of Cardiovascular Ultrasound
As I continue my quest to highlight our ASE core values, there could not be a more shining example than the ASEF. The ASEF truly embodies all our ASE core values: Diversity, Excellence, Professionalism, Ethical Behavior, Advancing Knowledge, and Caring Community. I have invited Dr. James Kirkpatrick, MD, FASE, our ASEF Board Chair and our ASE.23 Scientific Sessions Chair, to update our membership on the mission and incredible successes of the ASEF in 2023 as well as to provide a strategic vision as we move into 2024: (Source: Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography)
